The secret is out: Ricky Martin is the proud father of twin boys!

"The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care," his rep told the AP. "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."

The Latin superstar kept the pregnancy under wraps until now! His rep said there was no further information about the details of the children's birth.

  • While I'm happy for Ricky Martin, I have to wonder whatever happened to the "old-fashioned" way of procreating --- you find a girl, you get married then you have and raise children together. Now it's find an egg donor or a sperm donor, have the fertilized eggs implanted in the woman and then the woman has the baby or babies in this case. We don't know who the woman is --- Ricky may not even know anything about her. Where's the romance? Where's the surprise? I"m sorry but this is just too scientific for me. Is this the way homosexuals - alleged and otherwise (Clay Aiken, anyone?) now get to have babies? Sorry, I'll take "Love and marriage then a baby carriage." Call me old-fashioned but I prefer it that way.

    • Uh... hello. In case you weren't aware, straight people have been able "to get to have babies" this way much longer than homosexuals - "alleged or otherwise". When someone wants children but is unable to the old-fashioned way, then the "scientific" method becomes the alternative, whether you're gay or straight. Can't we just be happy that there are children being brought into this world by loving people who want them? Congratulations Ricky!

  • It's great news and surprising at the same time. As a twin, I'm double happy for him. Maybe in time he'll let everyone know why he chose this way. As for not letting anyone know, Ricky in the past has wanted to keep his personal life private. He could of hired a surrogate for several reasons. The wonderful news is that he's a father.

You do not need to be married to give your children a love and security, and most importantly, emotional estability that many children that have both parents do not have because their parents are divorced and are more concerned on "whose turn it is to take care of the kids" My mother died when I was 5 years and my father did a great job with all his 4 children. IT IS BETTER TO HAVE ONE GOOD PARENT THAN TWO THAT DO NOT GET ALONG.

At least your children will never deal with the trauma of children of divorced parents that fight for their custody. Do they really care about their children's feelings?
