At the first meeting of the Women's Classic Book Club in Los Angeles there was a rabid discussion about whether to read Jane Austen or D.H. Lawrence. As the merits of each of the great authors were being debated in the living room, four women found themselves at the kitchen table snacking on crudités and some insanely delicious home-made carrot cake, each individually wondering how they could get the hell out of there.


After bonding over the crudités and (as it turned out to be) Amy's amazing carrot cake, the four women decided to ditch the book club and head out on an adventure for the afternoon.

 Somewhere...Anywhere.

So they jumped in Lizzie's new Saturn (her husband the dealer had bought Lizzie a top of the line new car) and they headed off.

And so it started. The offshoot of the Women's Classic Book Club became the Classic Women's Club - Lizzie, Laura, Amy, and Joanna. Four women, "classic" in their own right, on a search for - what? Something...Anything.

Two afternoons a week, while they should be at book club reading about amazing lives, they choose to go out and live them.
