** FILE ** In this 1959 file photo originally released by MGM pictures, actor Paul Newman appears as the character Brick Pollitt in the film version of Tennessee William's Pulitzer Prize-winning play ''Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.'' Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as an activist, race car driver, popcorn impresario and the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," "Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money," has died, a spokeswoman said Saturday.
