Black photographers' work featured at Smithsonian
One of the cameras used by the Scurlock family is on display, Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, as part of the exhibit, "The Scurlock Studio and Black Washington: Picturing the Promise", at the National Museum of American History in Washington. Addison Scurlock and then two of his sons ran a successful studio from 1911 to 1994. During that time, they captured the growth of a vibrant black middle class that thrived culturally and economically despite segregation. (AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin)AP Other Entertainment News
