  they test for herpes, but blood tests can come back with false negatives... the only way to be sure is to send a tissue sample from an actual sore... so a negative blood test is irrelevant

  YES, they do test for herpes but you have to ask for the test. It is a blood test. If anyone ever tells you that they cannot test for herpes... RUN! I simply learned this the hard way.
