    • bobsiew, you're extremely stupid. What does staying in an abusive relationship have to do with music? And to all of the other idiots who say Madonna sucks...If it weren't for her, the majority of today's singers wouldn't exist. Madonna's been successful for over 25 years, someone who sucks couldn't last nearly as long, could they? bobsiew, shut up and don't ever reply. You're not worthy of an opinion. Maybe you're Guy Ritchie typing those dumb comments?

  • Madonna comes across as a strong personality - doing things the way she wants. Of course this influences everything around her, especially the music industry. She continues to amaze me with her energy level on the 'stage' and within her family circle. Although I'm sure the breakup of her relationship must be painful, she still struts her stuff!!

  • This is really funny that you even ask this question and make a poll like this.

So far Madonna has more votes than Tina Turner and after that Cher, as being the most influential female singer in music history.

But if anyone know just a little bit about music history, they will know that Tina Turner was the very FIRST female rock singer ever. She was the first woman to sing rock music, and create a landmark that inspired all women who came after that in rock and pop music.

Cher and Madonna were both big fans of Tina Turner, and was inspired by her new showstyle of performance, singing and looks (Cher in the 60´s and Madonna 2 decades later, in the 80´s).

Janis Joplin was one of the biggest Tina Turner fans - so was Bette Midler, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox, Beyonce´, Mary J. Blige + some of the greatest male stars of our time such as Elvis, David Bowie, Mick Jagger & The Rolling Stones, Sting, Bryan Adams and the list goes on of famous Tina Turner fans who were influenced by her.

Without Tina Turners enormous influence in the world of entertainment, there wouldn´t be the same type of artists today.
So even if ALL of them are great, there can be no doubt that Tina Turner is the ONLY woman who represents the entire era of Rock music from her beginning in 1958 with Ike Turner, who is recognized for writing the very first rock and roll song "Rocket 88" in 1951, which was a new era that inspired many, including Elvis to be part of this new music revolution - but Tina Turner was still the first woman in rock, and remains an inspiration to this day.

  • tina turner is and alwayswill be the most influential singer in the world that is living at thistime...this has become apparent and it totally pisses me off at the fact that Madonna had the highest grossing concert of 2008...it is oly because she charged $350 a ticket, that is CRAZY ! If they were to go by actual tickets sold, I am sure Tina would have taken that trophy again...just like she did in 2000. There has never been a performer that I have seen live that can have the wide variety of people at their concerts like Tina does...age range from 18 - 90...now can you name any performer that can go on a world wide tour and draw a crowd so diverse as Tina can...I went to see her at 8 shows all over the US and it was the same type of crowd at each show ! so now can you tell me who the most influential woman of music is !
    anonymous anonymous 12/31/08 Reply

    • Yea I agree with you, Madonna just gives rip off prices for concert tickets that is the only reason why she got the highest grossing tour, and your right Tina would be at the top if they did it by actual tickets sold because she broke a record this year by selling out her opening night tour in two minutes !
      anonymous 6 bobsiew 1/1/09

    • Tina is proud, she sing for people out of love, she is not in it for the money. Besides what's the difference anyway and who the heck cares, when Madonna's Tina's age you may not even remember her. A good performer stays in the lime light longer, I see Tina singing till she drops... Angie

  • NO DOUBT, Tina Turner is the most influential female singer of all time. Coming from literally hell with Ike Turner and becoming one of the most sucessful music artists of all time. Tina was there before Madonna, Cher, Celine, Whitney. Tina was there dancing and singing before any of them. Without Tina there wouldn't be a Beyonce or Rihanna. Beyonce during the Grammys called Tina her idol and even the Queen. Tina has influenced some many people it ,including me, it would take years just to count. She didn't just open the door for female artists, she broke it. Tina deserves all of our respect for what she has done and what she is doing. She will be 70 in Nov. and is still performing and actually selling out arenas and stadiums, there is no other female performer that can do that at her level. The Queen Of Rock & Roll is undoubtly simply the best!

  • I LOL'd when i saw this poll...NO doubt it is The Queen Of Rock, Tina Turner. The very first rock monster ever. Madonna has NOT real talent, Playback Ftw, ( and shes only 50 omg) Madonna wont be performing when she reaches 70 y.o like Tina who is talented and has more energy than madonna has ever had, facts remains and Tina is been around since the 50s and is the major influence in Music, like the pappers wrote, It is up to her, The QUEEN of Rock, to show Rock monsters like the Stones and AC/CD how it is done. Besides that she has sold around 200M records so far and is the Top stage concert ever selling more concert tickets than the Stones or anybody else you could think up, While madonna attracted roughly 900 Thousand fans in a six-month tour The Rock Godess attracted over 3 Million. While Tina influenced REAL singers as Janis Joplin and Mary J. Blidge Madonna influenced people as ty Britney Spears..Think about it and u'll realize that There is NO one in this world worthy to be compared to The Queen of Rock.

  • If it wasn't for the likes of Tina Turner in the music industry to BREAK and DESTROY the boundaries, there wouldn't be no pops star rock star girls that you see today, if you really looked into the music history more and just what you think alot of what you see today with so called "pushing the boundaries", "setting the bar" TINA has already done that is the 60's, 70s, and in her Grand Comeback in the 80's and on word to Now she has show her talent (singing, dancing, stage presence) has no music boundaries, no just "one" genera her or her music can be put into. That is just music in ALL history factors from then to Now TINA TURNER is incomparable.

Tina has broken the barriers of race and age in the entertainment business. When people said no, it can't be done, Tina did it at 40, 50, 60 and is doing it again at 69! She has sold more concert tickets than any solo artist in music history. She is simply the best!

  • All of these 3 ladies are great in their own right.

But, i must say, Tina Turner is probably the most influential of the three. Because she broke down barriers for women in Rock. Shes PACKED stadiums all over the world. She made a comeback in her mid-40s. Which is a very hard thing to do. Better yet, her comeback was more successful than anything that she did with that massive t ool Ike Turner. She is the apitimy of strength and a real lady. Someone everyone could learn something from.

i never looked to madonna as someone i would like to be like when i grow up. Because there really wasn't much class there.

  • It really depends which way you look at it, if your talking about "mainstream pop" then yeah i guess it would be madonna, however Tina has paved the way for female artists to break the mould in other genres way before madonna was even making music!
    anonymous anonymous 4/8/09 Reply

  • Definitely Tina wins this one. Both Cher and Madonna are great but both have acknowledged having idolized Tina. Without Tina, neither of the two would be where they are today. People say Madonna lasted longer but that's not really true, Madonna is still much younger than Tina and at Madonna's age, Tina was still playing to record breaking crowds across the world. So really we have still yet to see what Madonna is capable of in her "older" years. Again, all three are great, but Tina takes top ranking having influenced these other two singers.

  • 50 years in the business. Top 10 hits in 4 decades. Just finished a world tour at the age of 69, without an album to back the tour up.

I can go on and on...but I'll simply say - Tina is the Queen, the Goddess, the biggest star there ever was and she still shines bright!!

  • Luv Madonna & agree she's very influential & I admire her a loooooot but for me it's Tina Turner all the way as she continues to be an inspiration even without releasing much music lately.....she still fills stadiums & holds records for the highest attendance on several of her tours...even without a record or much promotion!! Don't know anyone else who can do that. It's Tina's spirit, live performance, charisma & sheer star power which people love....she is a force of nature & something that doesn't come along even once in a lifetime. Tina is the Queen of rock, Madonna is queen of pop...although many believe there are stars & megastars...and then there is Tina Turner towering over them all but I'm sure there are many who would cry at hearing that so each to their own hey :)

  • Tina Turner is my choice but if I were to be honest Madonna is the biggest influence in the music industry. She refuses to get old and acts like a teenager the older she gets. the music industry is for kids and to stay in it you cannot mature. Madge wins. She refuses to mature. So does her music.

  • All three of these women are incredibly talented singers and performers and have influenced the music industry in different ways. Madonna has been the most influential in the music industry. Younger perfomers such as Britney Spears want to be like her but nobody has matched or surpassed what this woman has accomplished. She is the simply the Queen of Pop and a brilliant business woman.

  • no matter what people may think of her, if we condone or not her controversial way to influence the music industry, Madonna still is the most influent, professional, hard-working, innovative and top-selling female singer of all time. No doubt about it.

  • All three have their attributes but Madonna is "child's play" compared to the legendary, timeless Tina Turner. Tina was the first, true female rock singer. Cher is iconic in regards to fashion and high camp. Tina is #1!

  • Come on Tina is a veteran, I have nothing against Madonna or Cher like them both. But the veterans start it and those like Madonna and Cher of course learn from the veterans and also then bring something to the stage as well. all are talented but Tina is the veteran--veterans rule, she had a harder struggle on the strength that she was african-american so she poineered for people like Madonna and Cher to hit the stage running and show there stuff and have the freedom to do as they please thanks to people like Tina who paved the way.
