  • That list is quite lame. I only voted for the Mad Max movies because you didn't include any other films from the early part of his career which are among his best. If I had to choose one of his later films it would be something like The Man Without a Face and not some egotistical vehicle like The Patriot or Braveheart.

  • "Braveheart" was Mel Gibson's best movie; too bad you didn't include "The Passion of the Christ" and "Apocalypto," both of which he directed after "Braveheart" and which were as high-calibre as "Braveheart."
Because of "Braveheart," I gained an appreciation (almost a passion) for my Scottish heritage (I'm a "Celtic-American" ... English, Irish, Scottish and Welsh) and I visited Scotland twice. I LOVED it! The land really is as beautiful as it looked in the movie.
I'm sorry Mel is undergoing so much torment over the end of his marriage - it looks like it actually ended 3 years ago. I'd heard he wanted to move to Costa Rica because he fell in love with the country after making "Apocalypto" and Robin said "NO WAY, JOSE (MEL)." And now I hear Robin is taking him for all he's worth, buying six or seven houses, plus jewelry, property, etc.
I'm not saying Mel is a saint --- between the alcohol and the women, I'm sure he broke his marriage vows many, many times. But you're supposed to stay in it for better for worse, till the end, especially if you're a Roman Catholic. Sounds like neither one is taking their religion very seriously. Both should go for serious marriage counseling to try to repair it - you don't throw away 28 years and 7 children even if there's been multiple cheating. I know there's more to this than meets the eye and I refuse to put all the blame on Mel! He's probably 90 percent at fault but it's NOT JUST his demons that made him stray. If a man has steak at home (to paraphrase a great Paul Newman saying), he won't go out for hamburger! Obviously, Mel wasn't getting "steak" (or anything else, for that matter) at home so ... Finally, it may be the classic case of a male mid-life crisis. Even Mel --- as handsome as he still is --- is getting older (and drinking can age you in a heartbeat) and it shows! Being a man, he may feel the need to prove himself to himself in bed as well as in his movie-making. But Mel --- once again, I BEG you -- -GET RID OF THE FACIAL HAIR!!!!
Egotistical? Braveheart? I DON"T THINK SO! "Braveheart" was wonderful! It wasn't 100 percent accurate but it was marvelous and I'm glad Mel got the Oscar for best picture and best director. Too bad he also wasn't given the award as best actor. I still cry at the end, when he is about to be beheaded and he sees Murron in the crowd and he cries "FREEEEEEDOM!" and I"ve seen this movie so often I can practically recite it line for line!

  • THAT'S A TERRIBLE PICTURE OF MEL GIBSON, YOU COULD HAVE SHOWN A NORMAL PICTURE OF HIM. HE IS STILL SEXY AND VERY HANDSOME, I THINK BRAVEHEART IS A FILM THAT WILL BECOME A CLASSIC.
