  • I watched Farrah's show because I want someone to tell me the truth about what it's like to have cancer and, for once, it wasn't breast cancer. Anal cancer is relatively rare and hers must be an aggressive kind because, as she said, it was the size of a peanut and now it's in her liver which usually means it's terminal.
I admit it was frightening to see her (or anyone) endure so much pain while undergoing some of the procedures. And it was sad to see her partially shaved head, done to prepare her for when her hair fell out for real thanks to chemotherapy.
But there's another important reason for watching this. In the 38 years since Pres. Nixon declared "war" on cancer, we're still using the same 3 standard treatments -- slash (surgery), burn (radiation) and poison (chemotherapy). Maybe the drugs are slightly less toxic but not by much. And those who come up with innovative ideas such as Dr. Judah Folkman, who came up with angiogenesis and angiostatin drugs, are all but ignored until someone else steals his idea and gets credit for work HE did! Why did Farrah end up in Germany? Because the g-ddamned FDA sits on treatments that differ from the slash/burn/poison regimens. (Those treatments keep the pharmaceutical houses in business). I'm NOT one for "alternative" (read that "natural therapy" --- pine bark and alfalfa sprouts) treatments such as the 13-year-old boy whose mother refused chemotherpay (which has a 90 percent cure rate for his kind of cancer) for him. Now they're on the run so she can put her own useless medications into his body. But I digress. I hope anyone who has not seen "Farrah's Song" watches it when it's repeated. For a country that can get people to the moon and can fix the Hubble in its spatial element, we still can't seem to treat cancer any better than we did in 1950! That is unconscionable!

  • I'm hoping someone reads this very quickly. A Canadian elderly gentleman had full blown cancer (Leukemia) which spread drastically throughout his organs. He only had a few months to live. He attended the Jewish Hospital in Montreal Canada and was placed on a drug known as "Ribovirin". His cancer disappeared and now has a clean bill of health after several weeks. An amazing story. I am an RN and I sure was impressed and thought if Farrah heard this story someone could help her quickly as well. This drug zeros in on Leukemia, all types of cancer: breast, colon etc. Please tell her attending physician.
    Good Luck !

  • Yes, I watched it and just wonder rather than having all those drugs pumped into your body with no guarantee of remission why she would not of just had a colostomy and probably would of been better off today.I have an ileostomy for 10 years due to colon cancer.

  • A cure for Cancer needs to be found, Cancer like Farrah Fawcett's killed my grandmother in 1971 and my sister at the age of only 9 years old died from a rare Brain tumor in 1973. Nobody should have to go through such horrible side effects of the Chemo and other meds. to try to survive just a few more months and sometimes a few more years. Research appears to not be as aggressive as it should be. A CURE NEEDS TO BE FOUND

    • She has stressed she wanted her privacy from invasive tabloids etc. who report inacurate information. She made this piece for a myriad of reasons, however, to address your question, she wanted to show HER story the way it is to set the record straight. When one makes the choice to be public about an illness it is one thing. But to have that right taken away and with lies it's another story not HER story.

  • I've watched it several times. I watched it because I admire Farrah and because I have cancer myself. It was heartbreaking to see her suffer so much and the show left me with questions about her 'choices'. Did she really hold off on big guns chemo because of her hair? Would a colostomy have made a difference? Why did she not have a port instead of trying to use veins that had given out? I guess only she knows why she did what she did. I pray for a release for her and hope that God really will let her 'dip her wings down and feel the rain' as she wished. God bless this angel and give her peace.

  • Farrah brought attention to cancer, nothing else. The show was very self serving. It sounds like she made some bad choices [no side bag, no port, bad nutrition, no research]. Her vanity and not excepting her age were her reasons for her choices. Many of us cancer victims do not have the money and resources that are available to her. I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in April of 2006. I did have the bag for 6 months and did not have the privilege of staying home. I stayed home a total of 10 weeks for 2 operations and still continue to work at the age of 65. I have no other income and needed insurance being a widow. I however I do not feel sorry for myself. I do a lot of research on treatment, which includes nutrition and lifestyle. My daughter who is 41 has breast cancer and has 7 children is currently going thru treatment. She to does not participate in self indulgence. There are so many cancer victims out there like myself and my daughter, and many many children whos story should be told. Thats were inspiration to other cancer victims lies, not with selfserving movie stars!

    • Sounds like you had a terrible road. My father had non-Hodgkins lymphoma..and it took his life early because it was inoperable.
I respect everyone that has their own opinion, but I don't think that FF made this documentary for self- serve inclination. I think that she wanted everyone to see what cancer is all about. Noon sees behind the curtains when it comes to the meds, the needles, the pain & the loss of hope in some cases. I wish you well my friend. It is a place that no one ever asks to be in, it is what happens to us. Peace.

  • Yes, or course. I've been a fan / collector of Farrah's since I was 13yrs old. As hard as it was to watch I thought it was well done. It was tough to watch Farrah in so much pain. To hear her sweet soft voice wondering if it rain in heaven brought me to tears. I don't know if Farrah would of wanted her son shown on film in chains. That was sad and heartbreaking.

As far as a second part, DON"T DO IT. I think Ryan, Alana and NBC are now taking advantage of Farrah. What there going to film her dying and her funeral? Enough!

As a huge fan, I adore Farrah and pray she's not in any pain, and of course hoping for a miracle.

  • initially I was drawn in by something, not really sure what. I suppose the pure innocence of Farrah and her vulnerability. Since watching it I've had mixed feelings. Part of me feels sorry for Farrrah and part of me wonders why they are filming all of this and now making a second one! I'm wondering... is filming ones death becoming the new reality, make money show? I'm quite frankly torn. Anyone who has lost a loved one or gone through cancer treatment knows the drill... it's not an easy ride. I'm not convinced Farrah's story is any different, which makes me think it's for the money.

  • I watched because he has the most taboo of all cancers: Anal cancer. How she handled it was wonderful; she's a brave woman in the face of certain death. It was a bit creepy the way the camera was always rolling though. And, her boyfriend Ryan and kid "Red" were weird; too many drugs? Nonetheless, Farrah has her loyal girlfriend and world-class doctors. I'm praying for her to be released from the suffering.

  • I agree with one poster that a second follow-up documentary puts a new spin on the authenticity, integrity and purpose of this first show. And seems like capitalization. But also, Farrah said, "I am a private person" regarding the media and her illness, yet she posed for Playboy!! A private person does not pose for Playboy semi nude in a swimsuit. If you live your life in the public, making money from publicity, you must be consistent and be true to your fans who watched you expose yourself and sacrifice your privacy--in sickness and in health.

The show also makes me wonder why more isn't being done is this country. Chemo and radiation seems to be the only way to fight cancer, something is not right. Maybe she will help bring about some needed change. God Bless her, she has always been beautiful but also beautiful on the inside.

Plus I wanted to see if they treated her any better than they treated my mothers breast cancer. She wasn't.
I don't believe in GOD and this is one of the reasons I don't because no amount of prayer, EVER, ever works. It almost seems like the God people pray to is a Terrorist. This is no way for ANYONE to die. This saddens me deeply. I wish they'd let her son come home.

  • I just watched it again and am wondering if anyone can tell me why Farrah could not have been sedated for the procedure in which the German doctor stuck the foot-long needles in? It did not appear to me to be something that required conscious cooperation on her part - it seemed beyond barbaric! In this country, one can be sedated merely for being afraid of the dentist! I pray that she is pain free at this time and if there are any miracles out there, I hope one has her name on it.

  • That comment doesn't make any sense. Why would she care about money at this point? #1, she's already wealthy, and #2, she's dying, she can't exactly take it with her. Why would she expose herself in such a raw way for money?

It took a lot of determination for her to go through this with the world watching. I really wish she had gotten a small place in Germany that she could go and rest and not jump right back on the plane for the trip home. It sound to me that it would have or would be helpful. She is loved my the public and prayers are lifted up for her on a daily basic from all over the world. So many people with cancer go to Germany for treatment and if that is the place to go them buy all means I would also go it I thought it would help. Farrah'' story showed that she was and is not ashamed that she has anal cancer, my question is why did she not have a liver transplant-before it invaded her liver. I wondered if it would have done any good, I think that if might have but the doctors know best. My heart goes out to her=Ryan=and Red. I was so sorry to see that Red had to go see his mother in handcuffs, to me that was so insentive of the law, knowing he only wanted to be with his mother, at least he was able to be there. I hope if and when something does happen that he will be allowed to attend her funeral. FARRAH KEEP THE FAITH==KEEP LOOKING UP==WE WILL ALL BE PRAYING FOR YOU AS A PERSON AND ALSO FOR THE CANCER TO BE IN REMISSION AGAIN==GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND==HE IS THE GREAT PHYSICIAN.

  • I think the reason they did not put her to sleep when she was in Germany and they used that long needle which was terrible pain for Farrah, I think they were afraid to put her to sleep because she may not have waked up, I truly don't think that any doctor would put her under for any procedure for that reason, it is ashame that she will have to endure the pain that goes along with her treatmen. My heart goes out to her for having to go through all of this and I to wish she had a port alone with other things that could be placed for her treatment instead of sticking her every time, sooner or later her vains are going to blow just like they said and then they will ready be in trouble = they may have to go through the veins in her groan area, I can not think of any other place that it would be possible to get to veins that have not blown.

  • I wanted to know information about Farrah's alternative treatment. What vitamins is she taking. Farrah had a lot of vitamins laid out to take and I could only make out 1 vitamin. Can I find out what other vitamins she is taking? I have breast cancer and I am taking some alternative steps too.

  • yes.I thought it was informative and let others know that when being diagnosed with cancer it can be a very difficult road that sometimes has few answers. You would think with all our modernized technology we would have a cure for cancer. It's sad to see there's no other treatments that can help Farrah. She is brave and there's always hope.

  • I had the same question. Being a survivor myself...I didn't want to lose my hair and I didn't want a mastectomy. Granted a colostomy would be a very hard thing to come to terms with BUT if tou want the odds in your favor you do it.
The media needs to emphasize her decision not to have the surgery or the toughest chemo....if just to clarify to the public that there are other treatments. I'm no MD maybe it wouldn't have helped Farrah....but all the people out there who hear that diagnosis of anal or colon cancer need to know that it is not neccesarily a death sentence

  • I am so sorry for the loss of Farrah Fawcett. It is such a loss to loose both Farrah and Michael on the same day. . I know that they are both starts but I was so concerned that they overshadowed Farrah's death with Michael Jackson death. We can't forget her . She endured so much and fought to the end. May she rest in peace,

  • Farrah Fawcett did everything right but to change her diet. The 1st thing you do when you get cancer is go totally raw and vegan. I noticed on her documentary she did not change her eating habits(nor did any doctor mention foods),her body could not repair itself with all the poisonous everyday foods and the drug treatments .
I am not a vegan but I do eat all organic. Ask yourself this
Do you know any raw food, vegan or organic eating person that has cancer? I have NEVER heard of anyone with the QUALITY FOODS LIFESTYLE to ever get cancer.
If you do have cancer-YOU MUST CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS AND THE KIND OF FOODS YOU EAT!
Living in California she was in the best and easiest place to eat healthy!
I just wanted to say what was missing in her eye opening true to life documentary. That documentary was like no other and will help lots of people in the future.
