I feel that David Letterman did the right thing by going public with his problem. He HAD to know how this would affect his wife/family and has acknowledged the fact . I am sorry that anyone has to air their dirty laundry publically as many do; answering to God shoud be enough. I hope that letterman & is family can eventually get back to living their life without having to answer for every inappropriate thing he has ever done. Is there anyone out there who wants to cast the first stone?
-
I totally agree with this "anonymous" person 100%.
-
My sentiments exactly!
-
What makes you think a person like that believes in God anyway? If you believe in God you dont behave that way unless your god is the devil that is then I guess its ok. His only god next to himself is the almighty dollar!Wake up man!
-
-
Who cares who David Letterman slept with, Really! He shouldn't have burdened the audience of his show with this personal stuff. It was very apparent how uncomfortable it made them. It should have been kept between his family and leagal team.
-
People in Entertainment need to have more respect for other people. David has made fun of people and said some pretty bad things about people trying to entertain us.That is not entertainment. We are not entertained learning about his his indescetions either. It is sad. I hope this will help him change the way he sees other people in the future.
-
Dave is a gentleman who deserves to be let alone as he works this out w/his wife. I would miss watching him 5 nights a week; DO NOT fire him!!!
-
HE THINKS HE CAN MAKE UGLY REMARKS ABOUT WOMEN EVEN YOUNG WOMEN AND GET AWAY WITH IT.I'M NOT SURPRISED THAT HE FELT IMPOWERED BY SLEEPING WITH ALL OF HIS WOMEN CO-WORKERS. THE BOSS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HIS WORKERS. HE IS A HAS BEEN.
-
who cares....let it be and tell the press to take a step back. I am sure we all have someting in your closet that would hurt someone if told. The fellow that needed the money...hope he doesn't try to use the insanity defense, he knew what he was doing and the "lady" involved, was it worth 5 minutes of unfavorable fame?
-
He did the right thing coming clean - I hope he can step up to the plate and make things right for his family
-
It is no ones business what celebraties do privately. The only victims of Dave's actions are his wife and child. Bill Clinton said afterwards that he should have just told the impeachment people that it was none of their business. Only God can judge and forgive and I think the forgiveness has already been given.
-
David Letterman is not pretending to be a moral leader, nor has he ever pretended to be one.
Most people tune in for a laugh, and don't really care what he's done.
He only came public because someone was trying to extort money from him, and he did what he did best: made light of the matter. I'm sure he could have paid the guy $2M without even blinking, but he has moral standards. Extortion is wrong. -
Leave Letterman alone. It's up to him and his wife to work out their lives. The first step is accepting your own issues. If the media would stay out of people's business, it would a better world. This was in his past, it wasn't a prostitute he was involved with, and he's not a public elected official....
-
by these comments I'm reading, these percentages of this quiz are backwards.
-
I think he was really brave, honest, and sincere with the apology, not many women or men woud come clean after something like this.
-
I don't care if he went public or not, but since he has it shows much about his character and what a hypocrit he is. In the name of "comedy" he made fun of young girls and other families going through the same pain and got down right dirty about it at times. Karma is a beautiful thing Dave.
-
Moral, brave, sincere, honest, gentleman(?)etc...none of the above describe a man who makes his living off other people's miseries and then turns out to be a bigger creep than any of the people he has made fun of. WOW
-
Jon left his job to stay home and help with those beautiful children. He sat on that couch with her and said he didn't like being on camera so much. He was being selfless for his wife and children and he is a ggod example of a MAn versus a male. He could of been a MALE and ran of on her annoying ass after the children were born and it got a little difficult. Of course the world-oriented people want to judge him harshly. I don't have a problem with him withdrawing the money because he left his job and she probably controlled the money and gave him some "allowance", so now he will spend the money for the good of the family. Jon forget about the naysayers who probably wouldn't look too good if we knew all of their personal business. Remember, when you are a genuinely good person you a in the minority and even the bible says we will seem peculiar. You are playing the hand you were dealt and I will continue to pray for you and any women who has you in their life is blessed. Give those 8 beautiful kids a big hug because without your help Kate is seeing how much you contributed and that is why she is driven to spanking the kids and not responding when I heard one of them crying in the background. Kate need to deal with the fact that although she very organized and she loves her kids, there is some kind of deficit in her as it pertains to true/deep feelings and I suspect it has something to do with her childhood and she needs to address it so she won't be so "cold". We are all and will always be a work in progress and I think she feels she has arrived, but she needs to dig deep and tap into that humble spirit and address any issues that are blocking her spirit nature or she will regret it. God bless you all. Stay safe. You don't need anyones approval for doing your best Jon.
-
I think the emphasis should be on the BLACKMAILER not David Letterman. This "stuff" happened in the PAST. He hasn't been married very long but the media keeps bringing up his wife. I'm sure this is hurtful to her BUT this is something in his past!!
-
The comment about Sarah Palin's minor daughter shows he has a disturbing attitude. That plus this did it for me.
-
I feel it is none of the publics business. This is something he has to deal with, when it comes to his wife. He may be stupid for what he did but he has to live with it. The idiot who tried to get money from him is the one that should be punished. I with the media would just lay off this subject. I they spent as much time covering the war and other important issues it would be a better world.
-
infidelity seems to be an accepted way but at least Dave is tacking responsibility for his mistakes unlike Jon who whines like a big baby. jon, its time to grow up nut up or shut up who cares about your whining . right or wrong kate is the mother of Your children and you dont disrespect your wife .why do you do this in public be a man stop this "he said she said " just because kate says something doesnt mean you have to run your mouth be a man not a whiney child
-
I know that David Letterman is not a public official, but he had
some audicity to make fun at the expense of other politicians
when he was doing the same thing. Look at the pot calling the
kettle black. Buy your wife a biger ring than Kobe Bryant had
purchased for his wife for his discretion. And by the way, you need some therapy (for what you did to your wife and also your
staffers). -
Is anyone surprised that Letterman was having sex with someone other than his wife? Letterman had no choice but to go to authorities because no one would have believed that he hadn't had affairs. He has got to be the dumbest smart-ass ever or the smartest dumb-ass around. Does he really matter as much as he thinks he does?
-
Extortion is NEVER OK.
I am quite sure Dave is not crackin' on this issue without having consulted his wife. What would everyone have him do? I think he is handling it well. -
money talks
-
Hey! Dave was NOT married when he had these reationships!
He is not reacting to the relationships but, the EXTORTION!
His apligy to his his wife is because he had to being to light somethng that would be sensative to her. He was NOT unfaithful to her.
Not hisjudge-
NOT MARRIED? ARE YOU SERIOUS?????? I agree about the extortion comment: it is ILLEGAL!!!!! But give me a BREAK!!!!!! David has been with Regina for SIXTEEN YEARS !!!!! Does that mean NOTHING ???? Like I said before, what has happened to trust and loyalty to the one you love, to say nothing of protecting and not HURTING the person who is supposed to be most important in your life (other than your child)? It is a good thing that beautiful little boy is too young to understand what is going on. Of course, if his mommy and daddy split up, he'll "get the picture" in time, and he will suffer from this also. I just think this whole thing is so sad and beneath whatever behavior/actions I'd have ever expected from David Letterman, one of the finest entertainers on television, in my opinion.
-
Absolutely right!
-
Yep he wasn't married to her just in a relationship with her! YOU should be so lucky! Maybe you think its ok to cheat on your GF but some of us don't bet your just like him huh? These losers in showbizzzzz think there worth something yeah but what there worth I cant say here! If you stuck them all in a room together they wouldnt have enough of a brain cell to make up on cell! There all losers and they have no respect for there fans who gave them that nice cushy life that they use to tell us wwere stupid for not beliweving in the same junk they believe in! Gee thanks hollyweird!
-
-
Had Stephanie not let Robert gt her diary, this never would have happened. How about her culpability?
Why should he get all the heat.
And, oh, I sure hope she has dumped Robert -
I am sure half the people voting have had discretions in there life. I think he was smart and brave to handle it the way he is doing.
-
Dave was big enough to acknowledge his past, and last nitr he publicly apoligized to his wife because these accusations were before he married her. NUF Said ! Let the guy be and do his show. Who are theses clowns that want more including Soledad,Chris and that NON-Celebrity(in reality)Donny Osmond. Morals? Donny asks about morals, he should have asked his sis that 20 plus years ago. Not all the country has been fooled by fallen Angels(Satin) also known as the foolish Mormon fauith

-
He is going to have a lot of trouble mending his relationship with his wife. The fact that he had enough courage to come out about it, shows a lot of courage on his behalf. He is just doing what he does best, and knows how by making jokes about any situation.
-
I think it is harder to face your peers and your public and apoligize then for the average individual. I think he's doing the right thing and commend him for it.
-
Dave is handling things very well and is truly sorry for putting his staff and family through this unfortuate situation. Why would/should he be judged any different from any other celebrity?
-
He's 63 yrs. old - he knew exactly what he was doing....he's white trash. It's disgusting, ...yuck! eeew!
-
who cares. He is a tv show host. Their personal business is exactly theirs. I think he did it correctly. Some incompentent reporter was in trouble and start crap to blackmail. WHO cares. Just like Jon and Kate plus 8 who cares. Insider said that is what viewers wanted NO it isn't. Just some. My comment is WHO cares.
-
I respect him !
-
Yes what he did was wrong since he was in a commited realationship but he didn't murder anybody. However he is not the one who broke the law. He did apoligize to everybody so that should be the end of it.
-
He visibly looks shakin, not his normal demeanor
-
Some fugly woman on Letterman's staff said it was "Alot of nothing". Considering this woman couldn't get a date unless she was the last one standing on Earth, I don't think she would think it was alot of nothing if she were Regina.
-
eVERYBODY HAS SKELETONS IN THEIR CLOSET... DONNY OSMOND SHOULD SHUT HIS MOUTH.... EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR PRIVACY... PROBLEM IS PEOPLE LIKE TO RUN THEIR MOUTHS.... IT IS A PERSONAL MATTER ... LETTERMAN JUST ADDRESSED IT HEAD ON ...AND IT IS NOBODIES BUSINESSS...jUST SHOW BIZ bS******* If letterman resoved with his wife nobody should stick their dirty noses in......... that a hole that tried ti extort him wa a LOSER......
-
Clearly, David Letterman has no respect for his wife or his son.
-
he is lucky those women slept with him
-
Levae the guy alone. We all have skeletons in the closet
-
Wasn't Dave single when these "flings" happened? While it isn't appropriate work behavior why is this such a big deal??? If the wife now has a problem with it then that is between the 2 of them.
-
just because hes famous doesnt mean he can get away with anything, what an @ss!
-
I agree. His personal life does not belong on television. Enough already! Who cares!!
-
This is between him and his wife to talk about he needs to stop talking about it on TV. He said what he had to say now it needs to stop. If I was his wife I would be mad that the comments are still coming out. Donnie is right
-
If Dave hadn't gone full steam ahead with this someone else would have. This way we're getting his side, uncut. What he did may not be right but he was single, right? But it is time to let it go.
-
The only reason he made it public is because it was going to either way. His son will grow up to see what a pervert his father is. And the only reason the woman slept with him was to help their career, it sure was not for his looks! Poor ladys are going to need therapy! He is old enough to be their great grandfather! More will come out just wait and see. I bet his wife takes his Viagra away! JMO
-
If Bill Clinton can get with it lying straight face on TV, there shouldn't be an issue here.
-
I agree. Why is everyone getting excited over this. He had to talk about it to clear the air but that should be it. The case is pending so he can't say too much about it. Who knows, the intern may be involved in the plot too. I agree with comment above, Bill Clinton got away with murder and no one felt sorry for Hillary. LOL
-
-
SELECTIVE SEXUAL HARASSMENT.
THE RICH & FAMOUS HAVE SPECIAL TREATMENT.
I.E, ROMAN POLANSKI. -
Donny, you sound completely judgemental. David Letterman seems quite remorseful. He was right to stand up to a blackmailer and he is right to address his audience. The rest is between he and his wife. It remains to be seen if his actions amounted to sexual harrassment.
-
You all expect Letterman to stop making jokes when it's the only platform he has to reach the public with his true feelings, while all the programs such as yours practically use your entire on-air time commenting on it. By the way, when did you decide to turn into the View with all the arguments. Not fun.
-
What is done between consenting adults is none of yours or my business. You should not assume what his wife should do. It is none of your business it is up to her what she chooses to do. If he was violating his employers code of conduct then that is between he and his employer.
We (you and me) should stay out of it. You should move on to other topics. -
Mr. Letterman although did something morally wrong he is a victim of a CRIME. He manned up to his mistake and is making up to his wife. He doesnt owe us anything but to keep us laughing. Let it go, or keep talking about it and help his rating.
-
He is making a mockery of marriage, and insulting an apparently loyal relationship with the mother of his only child. He uses his "Aw shucks", "Naughty-Boy" charm to take advantage of vulnerable young office girls.
-
He is definately getting off the hook.....it's a shame!
-
I don't think that David is getting off too easily, but I do think he needs to stop making jokes about it. It is no laughing matter, especially when it comes to the hurt it has caused his wife. Enough with the jokes now, stop stop stop......David!! Just stop talking about it at all. He can make jokes about something else now.
J. Money -
There is nothing funny about infidelity. Knock it off David. What is wrong with women who think nothing of sleeping with married men and what kind of example does Dave set for his son. Advise to his wife, leave him.
-
Letterman has made a GREAT living out of destroying other people. Now he has to eat a little of his own medicine. Quite joking about it and be a Man about it.
-
This is nothin gnew in the corporate world except that Dave admitted it. He will have to deal with his wife and he should be left alone to do that.
-
isn't it funny that he's sorry now, that he got caught!!! If he is so sorry for what he did, why didn't he tell his wife{ who was his girlfriend at the time what he did back then
-
Letterman's weak attempt at an apology to the mother of his beautiful child falls well short of "heartfelt" as reported. What a shameful excuse for a human being he is --- making light of his dalliances as though they meant nothing to either him or his lovers or his wife. She should take him to the cleaners then dump his sorry butt. He is unfit as a husband, father, and celebrity. I was a fan, but will now never watch his show again.
-
I feel he did the right thing by going public. The reality is, this will only affect David and his family, not us. I for one shall continue to watch his show. The other thing, this all happened in the past, let it go.
-
Even after Birkitt graduated in June 2008, Letterman offered her a job as his personal lawyer.
-
his joking about it is how he is handling the situation, it is not a indication of what he goes through behind close doors. how do you (we) know what he got away with anyway
-
Leave Dave alone!! The extortioner is the sleeze. He should get jail time!!! Dave and his wife will work it out. He is truely sorry.
-
how come my comment didn't post??
-
He is putting the focus on and getting sympathy for the extortion side of this when in fact he cheated on his wife. He seems more upset about someone trying to "extort money from him than he does about what his cheating has done to his family. How sad!
-
CBS should dump Letterman and his production company. His conduct is not acceptable and isn't the joke he's trying to make it.
-
i am not david letterman's judge. i realize that he was forced into it, but at least is coming clean before the whispering and ranting headlines begin dragging it thru the mud. he has to protect his family and his staff. i have to point out that dave did not apologize to his wife last night. he admitted what he had done, but his apologies to his wife are done in the privacy of their own home.
-
Making light of it, IT'S WHAT HE DOES. IT'S HIS JOB! I like the way he's handled it.
-
He's a Democrat, the media is mostly Democrat. He's getting off.
-
Extortion MUST be exposed. Don't let the extortionist win. That guy should go to jail. Let Letterman fact the music at home in private with his wife and if anyone at work wants to sue that is their right and an entirely separate matter.
-
This is nothing new!!!!
-
David is not the only man in the office who had sex with someone. He did it so what. Some men are hot dogs and he just was a hot dog. If his wife not tripping what the heck do any one else has to say. All of these women knew what they was doing so if they say something different I say they just want to be on tv are feel they were mis-treated
-
Just let it go. David is not the only man who has sex with women on the job. Let that man alone!
-
how can you people pick on dave lettermen and then let this guy john goslen on the air(no he didn t just show up and you put him on you are paying him)and those other witches from those phony housewife shows. they should take you off the air!
-
Come on this is so common today
-
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.
Sexual harassment can occur in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to the following:
The victim as well as the harasser may be a woman or a man. The victim does not have to be of the opposite sex.
The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, an agent of the employer, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or a non-employee.
The victim does not have to be the person harassed but could be anyone affected by the offensive conduct.
Unlawful sexual harassment may occur without economic injury to or discharge of the victim.
The harasser's conduct must be unwelcome. -
NO not too easy...he could loose his family...Everyday Most of the panel doesn't have the depth or experience to comment... The panel Comes off Smug, Sanctimonious or just LOUD, DUMB, and judgmental...Your new format that you created for RATINGS is a big turn OFF...shows the lack of education and character in general esp LS, the male co host, and especially Samantha, who was just getting tolerable on DWTS ...What a BIG MOUTH she is, with not much to back it up...what is her education, background etc...
I think David Letterman handled it just fine...if he said nothing ("privately") as you suggested , it would all come out in the End!!!.... and then you would attack him for Not commenting...
Who are all of you to judge...........???? He's an entertainer and HUMAN...not a politician or priest or....
BTW, some of the Guests are good if one must have every story judged...like Sharon O -

This is really between him and his wife. I'm sure she's not letting him off easily. Also, why is everyone so surprised?? This is normal in the entertainment world. BTW last night, on TV the insider falsely reported the results of their poll.
-
He's a talk show host, not an elected official or an athlete who holds himself up as a role model with endorsements.
-
I was glad someone finally said what I feel and that was Donny Osmond. He was making too many jokes about the situation. I really don't think he has any remorse for what he did. He's remorseful b/c he got caught.
-
How could Dave Letterman get off easy with all the media hupe?
-

David Letterman was being blackmailed & turned the tables on the blackmailer, he went public on his own terms instead of letting a sleaze ball call the shots in his life. What happens at home with his wife is his private personal business & that's that. The Insider is the worst show on television, I can hardly believe it's associated with cbs.
-
One Hundred Percent Agree with Donny!!!!
-
If this were a conservative the news media and networks would be screaming for his head. But since it is a left winger, the press fawns over him. Barbara Walters and Sherrie, made me want to barf defending this scum bag.
DOUBLE STANDARD AS USUAL. Everything bad is now good and everything good is bad. Typical. -
I side with Donny Osmond, where is the moral compass. AND the other man on this show has no clue what the public wants. Hollywood dictates what we get to choose from and dude you are way off base.
-
Why don't everyone including the Insider drop it. It is his business and you people don't let it alone. How would any of you feel if it was you? Unfortunately the people of this country are too worried about who is sleeping with who. Pay attention to your own bed and quit worrying about others! Who cares
-
This is a joke. Just how does this man expect normal everyday human beings to excuse his disgusting behaviour. The fact that he is making jokes on his show makes me sick.
I pity his wife, however if she stays with him, then I will have NO respect for her either. He is nothing short of a PIG -
He made pot shots at Sarah Palin and even her daughter and yet he doesn't want to talk about his confirmed affairs.........
-
David Letterman is the second victim in this scandal; the first is his wife. The true villain is the producer who attempted to blackmail Dave!
-
Give him a break. How many others would admit it and have to face millions every night. It goes on all the time, not that that makes it right, but give him a break.
-
David came forth with the truth, so get on with life, the guy was being blackmailed
-
I feel like he still has to deal with his wife, so that is going to be much more difficult.
-
his show is done!
-
So when does Craig Ferguson move into Dave's spot? ;) Did anyone see HIS show last night? He was a riot, not to make light of this situation. I've already posted several comments about how I feel: Dave really screwed (play on words) up. He was with Regina for sixteen years before marrying her. I believe that my comment that was not posted said, "I wonder if this is the reason he finally married her," after insisting he would NEVER get married. Anyone remember THAT? Poor Regina. She looks AWFUL, doesn't she? She doesn't deserve this. By the way, has anyone besides me noticed that all these women bear some resemblence to one another?
-
-
Marital indescretion is not something to laugh about or share with the world. This just confirms what I have always thought about Letterman, he doesn't have a stitch of moral character and wouldn't know the high road if he ran right into it!
-
He's just another Hollywood PIG.
-
The media should get off his case
-
BEING A COMEDIAN DOES NOT EXCUSE POOR JUDGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR. SHAME ON YOU DAVE!
-
"Getting off too easily"? For who? It's not anyone else's business. This issue is between David and his wife.
-
No, and at least Mr. Letterman is being up front about his mistakes and acknowledging his lapses in judgment, unlike the politicians and others who behave in ways that are less than respectful given their responsibilities as public figures and role models.
-
The media should get off his case
-
He wasn't married at the time and they haven't said how long ago it was. The women probably don't regret it and enjoyed it or we would have heard from them.
-
I feel this would have been different if David was MARRIED at the time, but he was not!! I really dont see this as a big problem for him. Of course his wife is embrassed, but this has nothing to do with her, as long as it is true what he said. He never cheated on his wife.
On another matter Jon Gosselin is an A@@, why are you wasting your time interviewing him. Of course he will not empty out the martial account and put it in his regular account. He hid that money. I feel his is just vindictive towards his wife, he has the power so he wants to excersise it but putting a halt to the show. That is fine by me because I do not watch it anyway. -
Letterman's wife should slap the ugly bastard right in the face and knock his glasses across the floor.
-
Donnie Osmond needs to realize the real world that the rest of us live in isnt as much like the Beaver Cleavers as he'd like to think!
-
If you think facing his wife for the rest of his life is getting off easy then you do not know women!!
-
Letterman's wife should slap the ugly bastard right in the face and knock his glasses across the floor.
-
what's out is out, what more do you want him to go through, the road ahead will be rough with his wife and son, they need to deal with it as a family. He is not the only person who has had something like this to deal with. No one has the right to judge him. I wish him and his family well, and hope that he decides to respect his wife and try his best to keep this private.
-
Donny's right... the compass is lost in some bizarre magnetic spazim! As far as Dave and the women... they obviously had to be aware of his long term relationship with his wife.. and you know EVERYONE in the office knew what has been going on for years.. I'm sure the only one it's news to is probably his wife.
-
If David wasn't a celeb everything wouldn't be all blown up & out of control, & he'd be able to repent & try 2 work things out peacefuly with his wife.
Leave the man alone already! -
No, He is Not getting off too easy!! It shouldn't be an issue the public is dealing with at all. All of you need to mind your owm business and SHUT UP!!!!
-
Take Him off the air.
-
I think Letterman did the onley thing he could, it is between God, Letterman and his wife. I don't understand why the media is wasting time talking about it....it's done
-
I wish all men had Donnie's morals. However, No one know's the conversations he's had with his wife about how to handle this situation. It could be this is the strategy they came up with together.
-
You people are uptight and ridiculous. We have a flipping war going on in Iraq, this sex scandal is so trivial. David wasn't married ... and he had a fling at work, it happens every day. It's not necessarily right, but it's HIS LIFE ... and between HIM & THE WOMEN ... Nobody is even TALKING about the guy who tried to blackmail him. Everyone needs to lighten up, there are MANY larger things in life to spend this much time on! Noreen in Pittsburgh!!
-
He is not "off the hook" until his family and conscience lets him off the hook.
-
He admitted to having sex before he got married. Who's the victim here? He also appologized to his wife. Just because he didn't use the word "appologized", does not mean that he didn't. He's guilty of having sex in the workspace and with what may be considered subordinates. Yet he's a hero in the sense that he turned in a person committing a crime even thou it was obviosly going to cost him dearly.
-
Take Him off the air.
-
It's insulting that he would even try to make jokes about it re: it's cold outside and inside.
-
Come on now. Dave was extorted, exposed, embarassed and honest at last. He's just doing what many men do. He's just a talk show host. He has had his private life painfully exposed. He's given us so many laughs.
-
Shouldn't we be more worried about the real issues? David Letterman is the least of your problems, try reading a Newspaper.

Letterman was right to go public with this. I just hope Regina can forgive him....their relationship goes back 22 years, so he definitley cheated on her, even if they did not marry until March, they still had a comitment, especially with a five year old son!
I think Letterman is the funniest talk show going. I forgive him, hopefully Regina will be able to as well! -
What pathetic times we live in .Just because letterman is a celebrity people think its ok what hes done, because he announced it on tv,are there no morals left in the world, hes getting off way to easy.
-
He was not married. It was in the past....before his marriage.
-
I mean come on..what else does he have to say..all this crap is in his past.and he`s proud of his family.and is backing it up..I`m proud of you dave..I`f it was me..This ppI would be in swimming in the east river of jersey..lol jk..this guy has mentle problem..
-
This is a silly waste of time. He's handsome, funny, rich. Why wouldn't someone want to date, sleep with him, etc. I'm a woman 65, and in all my years in business. I've seen it all. It does not sound like he was abusive but this media attention is.
-
He is no gentleman! He was caught! He is an obnoxious old man and a hypocrite to boot.
-
We all really like Dave and hope he and his
family will get thru this media mess. He did
right to blow the whistle on the extortion and
he should be prepared to suffer the outcome which he seems to be doing. Beat it into the
tround as usual. Mim -
It's insulting to even joke about his affair re: it's cold outside and now it's cold inside
-
Dave tells jokes about everybody even the presidents. So why not himself? I love Dave. The right thing to do. Why give into blackmail?
-
If these incidents happened before he was Married, or before the relationship with his now wife started, what does she have to be upset about? We all have a past. What does he need to be sorry for? They were all consenting Adults right. The only one who has the right to judge him is God himself.
-
I will continue to watch David Letterman, the top talk-show host, better than all the others put together. I hope he and his wife will stay together and his private life is he and his wife's business only. So, leave them alone.
-
Letterman did the right thing by coming forward with his past affairs. He was not going to allow some producer shake him down with extortion.
-
Letterman didn't have much choice in going public once he had called the authorities about the blackmail. The media hounds would have had it plastered all over if he hadn't spilled the beans. I do have a problem with how he is making it all like a joke. Infidelity is no joking matter. He's a hypocrite. Just goes to show you what goes around comes around. Remember how he raked former President Clinton over the coals? Sure feel sorry for Letterman's wife and child.
-
David Letterman is a "Dirt Bag",,These "other women" are obviously NOT interested in David Letterman for his looks. He's NOT funny, so could his money have anything to do with their interest in him??????????
-
I applaud Letterman for owning up to his possible indiscretians. That's refreshing to know that some do take responsibility for their actions. We are talking so much about Letterman that I think the news media, especially the tabloid news, have given the blackmailer a pass. Do you all forget that a crime was committed against Letterman?
-
His show is about taking cheap shots on people who are in the same shoe he is now. But unfortunately this is higher rating and more money.
-
He had a consenting private affair that was made public only because of his celebrity status. What he did was wrong, but it wasn't a rape, he had an affair. Be he an everyday citizen, this would not be an issue, or at least not a public issue.
-
I have always been a huge fan of Dave's, but I have lost all respect for him with this latest series of infidelities. What ever happened to trust and loyalty? Dave, in the meantime, will have his ratings surge because of his humorous comments and "almost" apology to his staff and wife. What I find abhorrent is that he has not TRULY apologized to Regina. It makes me wonder if this is the reason he finally married her after years and years of insisting he'd never marry again. I guess we now know why. David, shame on you. I thought you were so cool in so many ways; now I just see you as a dirty old man who can't control his impulses. You have to do WAY more than just "fix things;" if Regina stays by your side after this you will be getting so much more than you deserve. And this comes from a woman who has watched and loved you and your show for thirty years! SHAME!
-
After making a few jokes about these despictable acts, enough was enough. Once the monlogue was over that should havebeen it. I still feel even that was somewhat in poor taste. He was hurting his new wife a son. Luckily, his son is too young and doesn't understand. Celebrities when questioned seemed to take Dave's side - guess they don't want to be refused guest appearances. But I was glad to see Donny Osmond came through and touchedon orae asaspect. His jokesclealy offended his wife. I'm glad Bethenny was open o her opinion also. I ope Dave is finished with that topic in public. Go homeand make peace with his wife. If it was me, I wouldn't trust him. Heck, he's a newlywed of a few months (though they've been living together for years).
-
I think he did the right thing at the start but should stop the jokes now in consideration of his wife and son. Another thing though is Jon Gosslin who keeps blaming everything on Kate. I read the Court papers and in that their was a list from the bank of Jon's withdrawals since August to now. They support her claim. So whatever bank statement he is showing is not the whole truth.PLus why doesn't he follow his own advive to his wife and stoppAppearing on the Insider and Et all week promoting himself. He is making tons more appearances than her. Maybe if he would just go away it would all stop at least publicly . He seems much more concerned about Himself than the kids. I believe he protests too much.
-
Thousands of women would like to have an affair with David Letterman. I think it hard for all celebrities. That does not make it alright to cheat on a spouse or "steady" companion. He's paying a price higher than most because of goinh public. I applaud him.
-
Dave is a classy guy... too bad he wasn't around to help Bill Clinton when he needed it. The best way to shut it down is to come right out and admit it before the newshounds grind it to death...which is exactly what they are doing now. Dave did the right thing..now give him a break!
-
Letterman is making a joke of his infidelity at his wife's expense. You don't hear her talking to the media about her marriage or his affairs.
-
He is making a joke of his affairs..He need to shut up..and say I am sorry to his family especially his wife...see more
-
It is unethical to have affairs with your staff! Because it is David Letterman, people seem to be overlooking the fact, he slept with his staff! If a college professor sleeps with a student, it is unethical, if a doctor sleeps with his patient, it is unethical, if a CEO sleeps with his secretary, it is unethical. People do not seem to care about morals, so, what about ethic's? He has bashed many people for affairs, on his show. I wonder if the people who are defending him also defended Bill Clinton, and would they defend, let's say, a conservative talk show host if he were to have AFFAIRS with his staff. I think probably not.
-
He must go!!
-
He's come forward - said what he had to say! Sadly we've put all the "responsibility" on the man - coming from someone that was cheated on - IT'S NOT ONLY THE MAN involved! There are plenty of predatory women - and (assuming these women weren't coerced) these women need to own up to their part in this. I do not watch, nor will this draw me to watch Dave - however - enough of the man bashing! SERIOUSLY!
-
If CBS has an ounce of common decency and sense of morality it should terminate the contract of this grotesque hypocrit so-called "entertainer" who uses comedy to disguise his insecurities and his indecencies while making a living by attacking others who he perceives as threats and easy targets. Now both he and CBS are, again, in the fish bowl. He persumes to take the high rode by publicily announcing his distasteful indiscretions in the comfort and security of his performance format and stage. And yes, he will garner support from similar others and those remaining foolish audience fans who find pleasure and laughter at someone elses expense. But,a great number of we who still care to follow the "golden rules" of life will no longer tune in to this disappointing "entertainer". The executives at CBS are aware that this is not the first failing for Letterman and they should be very much concern as to what he and the future has in store next. The CBS advertizers should also be concerned because not only will we be watching what CBS does regarding this foulball but also those advertizers who choose the Letterman time slot!
-
He will have his day in court.
-
From what I've heard, he hasn't done anything more than sleep around and so far the women he has slept with wanted to sleep with him. I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and it always does.
-
He did the right thing by not accepting a bribe and coming forward. It is non of our business-and who are we to judge, no one is perfect--it is between him and his wife.
-
He has been more and more slimy over the last few years. He is such a hypocrite. How dare he slam a teenage girl for sex when he is the immoral one. I will not watch him again. He is a sleeze..making fun of things, hoping people will keep on hangin in there with him while he back peddles..He hasn't been funny for sometime now, even the top !0 list. He needs to be replaced now. His humor lacks sincerity, passion and cleverness.
-
getting off the hook from who. He wasn't married, it was consensual, he needs to sort it out with his new wife not the public.
-
Please people give me a break. I am willing to bet that over half of the married men are having affairs. But because they are not famous they are not called on them. I have been around and I know that many women do not know what their husbands are doing and with their own friends and neighbors. So instead of judging others look to home and make sure your own house is in order. What any one does whether in public service or in entertainment is between them and their spouse. If a public servant is doing his job I do not care what he does. It does not affect me since I am not that persons spouse. That is who they have to atone to. Not us. And as for them being role models that is such a crock. Your kids look up to YOU not anyone else. I have not seen him in a skit with this Stephanie in a very long time so I do not believe he has cheated on his wife. But of course many of you do. But so what. That is between them, and has nothing to do with any of us. I just dislike seeing all these holier than thou posts on here. No one is perfect. I have never seen Letterman claim to be able to walk on water. I think he is a good man. I am sure his wife suspected what was going on over the years and if she chose to stay that means she forgave him. And that is all that matters. And as for his making fun of it, I cannot blame him if someone was blackmailing me I would not want to make it too serious or someone may get hurt, I think he is handling it as he should he is a comedian. So joke about it to ease it a little, if that is how he can make it through this mess.
-
People need to remember that this assistant chose to have an affair with a married man. It's unfair to heap all of the blame on Letterman. Please don't drag out the old saw about a young impressionable girl. She isn't. This woman could have stopped it at any point by simply saying "NO". He's shown a lot of class by taking all of the blame.
The public and the media, including The Insider, needs to give this indignation a rest. In the end it "ain't nobody's business". -
Come on people some of you should spend less time judging others and go back to school to learn how to spell and write properly. Leave Letterman alone it is none of your business what he does in his personal life. That is between him and his wife. NOT YOU....Personally if CBS chooses to take him off the air for this they will most likely lose many viewers. I for one will never watch CBS again. They already took Guiding Light off the air and I watched that for 56 years, I would not tolerate them taking another favorite off the air. I would not ask them to because the matter is none of my business. He is funny and I like his show. He had to have talked this over with his wife before he talked about it on the show. They made the decision to go the route they did and that was what they chose to do, to talk about it before someone could make it worse than it was. As some of you are doing now. So some of you can go back and tend to your own business and leave the Letterman's to theirs. I just feel bad for them because the media is going to blow this all out of proportion and make up all kinds of stuff. I can just see it all now. Hopefully they can get past it.
-
people are forgetting he cheated on his wife because he is makin a joke out of what he did.
-
I have always liked David Letterman, but in the last year he has disappointed me over and over. He has become so one-sided politically and seems to have no regard for people that have a conservative viewpoint. Now, with how he seems to laugh off his indescresion, it just seems like he thinks he is untouchable. I am very sad about it and feel for his wife.
-
We don't live at his house so we don't know how much trouble he is in?
-
Who cares?
-
You bet! Where is the trust and honesty in relationships anymore?
-
I never heard David Letterman say he was sorry to his wife. He admitted he hurt her and said he would either fix it or he wouldn't I did not interperet that as an appology.
-
It's none of our business. I understand why he went public, it was necessary. Takes the "sensationalism" factor out of the "secret". As long as they were consenting ADULTS, who cares. He has to answer to his wife and family which is punishment enough. I'm sure she'll give him a good lashing behind close doors. Why do women keep diaries of their affairs? What is their purpose to some day hopefully cash in. Ridiculous.
-
It can't be easy going public with something like this that will affect your family and coworkers. He makes fun of it because that is who he is, but you can see how much this hurts him. Go David!!!!!!
-
I have no objections to older men dating younger women and older women dating younger men but I do think the drooling and slathering that some older men exhibit when around some young thang is just icky. And Letterman has always been one of the slatherers. It was painful to watch him interact with Stephanie a few years ago when she was a regular. Ick ick ick.
-
I totally agree with Donny Osmond's comments about the situation.
-
David Letterman is a scumbag who called a 15 year old a whore. Karma is a bitch Dave! I will not watch his show ever again.
-
He would never have fessed up had he not been "blackmailed." Everyone is talking about how they respect him for coming forward. What a crock!! How about the poor women involved. Have not heard an apology to them!
He thinks if he makes jokes and puts blame on the guy who wanted the two million, he will be forgiven. Sadly, it will probably work!! -
It's one thing to apologize for one's misgivings;however, it's another to make a mockery of his marriage and joke about his adultery. He hasn't done anything that makes him a "gentleman"; he's just trying to bolster his ratings!
-
You bet he is getting off easy! Where is the trust and honesty in relationships anymore? He has a resoponsibility to his fans and the general public. Shame on you David Letterman!
-
I agree with Donny Osmond for the first time in my life......where is the moral compass in America? It's TV ratings....that's disgusting and something his "very wealthy" son will have to hear about for the rest of his life. Always wondered why it took him so long to get married, now we know. His wife is a fool not to leave this disgusting pig.
-
Whatever Dave did wrong re: his flings with other women, this is about extortion and he didn't commit that crime, Joe Halderman did.
-
If he were an average JOE, he would be under review by his employer and then fired. Women's Rights are a joke and things never change. Shame!
-
He is a real jerk and I wouldn't have him if I was paid to have him as a husband she should divorce him he is a pig from the word get go!!
-
honesty he came clean, and the blackmailer is who we should be looking at how many other stars has he blackmailed? how many did he get away with, beacause the vitims did not have the guts to stand up for themselves. None of us are perfect, but few of us are honest about it.
-
David has done nothing illegal. The media is trying to make it look like he's currently having an affair. Whether Dave's wife should forgive him is NO ONE'S business but Dave's and his wife's. The fact that Dave came out publicly only shows that the media is so entrenched in putting bad stuff out there, he wanted to beat them. The gossip media should stop analyzing the situation and stop sticking cameras and mics in the faces of his staff trying to "get more goods". If Dave were STILL having affairs would only be Regina's business. DROP IT! Media folks, are you guilt free? I'd bet that you're NOT.
-
I applaud David for handling it this way. He came out & pulled no
punches. I am just real tired of every TV program, newspaper, new's
program. Must be a real slow news day if all they have to report is
on David Letterman. I just wish everyone would leave him alone. -
Absolutely! I think Lettermen making jokes about his horrible behavior at his WIFE'S expense is offensive and degrading to his wife and his family. Bringing the incident to light could have been done in one show prefacing this was "not a joke"! And as for the remark made by host, Chris Jacobs, that this is what America wants, this is Hollywood....he does not speak for all Americans. The only victims in this situation are Mrs. Letterman and their child. They should be allowed to attempt to heal from this betrayal privately in whatever manner they choose be it forgiveness or parting ways.
-
Wow... so many making comments on this thread passing judgement. I just hope you judgers are not judged the way you're judging Dave. In the USA, it's not illegal to have an affair outside of marriage. Do I support such activities? NO! I believe like Donny - marriage is sacred. What would YOU have had Dave do? You can't keep the press quiet so he chose to beat them at their own game. He handled this the best way he knows how; if that means joking, that's his way. None of us know all the facts so to pass judgement when NONE of us is perfect is a dangerous path to take. If anything, think about the crime of blackmail that was committed and just hope - FOR ALL YOUR SAKES - that if the blackmail story is true that the blackmailer is punished.
-
no, he it is not for us to decide, people seem to think they can judge him from this...that is between him and his wife...I am not saying that i agree with what he did but, in the grand scheme of things he is on tv doing his job and that is all we really know about him, besides what he tells us
-
Ditto! Who cares!? Only some want to hear all this. I chose to change the channel when they keep dwelling on stuff like "Should Regina forgive him?" or "Did Jon steal the money from Kate?" WHO CARES!? How about some interesting stories!
-
I see no humor in a man publicly humiliating his wife, his child, nothing funny about having an affair, of course are society seems to think this is ok now, but no matter how you dice it slice it this is a mess and he comes out smelling like a rose and his wife who is a private person, is now thrown out in front of everyone, like it or not. I have not watched his program in years and will never ever again. It is another sad day in America where men and women think an affair is the answer to problems, or their going to get away with it, it somehow always gets found out and look how many people always get hurt, especially his innocent child and wife.
-
Letterman done the right thing. We all have a skeleton or 2 in our closet. Let this family heal and go on with something else.
-
no david letterman is not getting off the hook too easy and by having the insider talk about it including the press discussing the issue is causing his ratings to go up. he is simply taking advantage of the situation and is easing the tension with the subject.
-
Comic or not it is a put down to his wife to make jokes at the situation.
-
it is none of our business
-
David Letterman is finally revealed for the hypocrite he is. You better believe his reputation will suffer. People are either at your feet or at your throat.
-
If David Letterman chooses to make light of his (and Regina's) situation publicly, then so be it. Who are we to judge what is right or wrong with regards to how they handle their lives. We don't have all of the facts nor do we know what is being said privately. While I do not condone what he did, I do support the way he has handled the fallout.
-
He is simply doing that which we demand of public figures. If they remain silent, we assume they are hiding something, if they confess we accuse them of scrambling for ratings or public sympathy. They can't win
-
Letterman is sleazy. His wife should divorce him since they were together when the affair happened. I know this may be awishful thinking but CBS should fire Letterman. There should be a morality clause in his contract. He needs to be taught a lesson. This situation could have ended a lot worse for cbs. Another woman could have brought a sexual harrassment suit against Letterman and Cbs...and they wouldve had to pay her. Just because you're rich doesn't mean you have to have every woman. Keep your peter in your pants...it's cheaper for everyone involved (hint...hint Bryant, & Roethlisberger )
-
Hillary destroyed Monica, Elizabeth Edwards does not seem to mind John has already started a new family before her cancer death, I wonder what Regina reaction will be. What an ongoing circus, our Stars have the morals of goats. Oh, I'm sorry, that was really mean to the goats.
-
I think he did the right thing admitting his fault. Even though he didn't have to do it on television. I don't think it's a good idea to joke about it. He should be focusing himself on repairing his damaged relationship with his wife!
-
Please proofread your entries before you post them. The grammar and spelling really need to improve.
-
He dumped on his marriage and now he's getting higher ratings? Wrong!
-
he is human and made a mistake. he admitted to, the truth will set you free, which I think he has done with his wife and the public. the fact that he makes jokes about on his show, he is a comedian, is only natural to do this and if the ratings go up well that's good for business well that's show business.
Michael -
I think David Letterman and CBS should be ashamed of themselves. His behaviour is completely unacceptable and this person should not be on TV with such a strong influence on people. He is absolutely void of any morals, but then he is friends with President Clinton and others that seem to think it is o.k. to fornicate outside marriage!
Get rid of this jerk!
One of the major problems we have today is the lack of moral behaviour. Too many people having sex with anyone they feel like with no regard for the repercussions. Mr. Letterman shows with his actions that he has no regard for his marriage, no regard for the people he works for, no regard for the woman he had sex with and the effects this would have on her life, no regard for his son and the effect this has on his life. Apparently Mr. Letterman thinks he is above any of us.
Get rid of this jerk! -
Everyone seems to forget that he is also the victim of a crime.
-
It is so sad that this is what we are expected to accept about this!
-
I think this is between David & his wife...as long as people are publishing new info, I believe he will continue telling his viewers things so we here it from him and not the press....this must be very difficult to discuss with the world...but he's doing it. I respect him for his honesty. He's not hiding behind a smoke screen....
He's a a comedian and he's making jokes to help him deal with what he feels others are thinking about him....it's his way of dealing with it on the show. I hope he and his family can get through this.
He will answer to his maker, not to the public.... -
letterman, like most of hollyweird, is garbage has always been garbage never watch his show dont care to watch him. With all the BS that these people do my oppion of them just keeps dropping. Thats why I no longer spend my money on them.
-
I wish Dave well. He has been honest and open about the situation. From here on this is a family issue. we need to mind our own business.
Dan -
Confession is one thing, joking about it on national tv is another.
Maybe i'm missing something, but I think the jokes would hurt more than the confession. -
I generally don't leave comments but I tell ya. I have to tell you that Chris Jacobs (the new co-host) is a TOTAL JERK!! He's blatantly rude and curt and disrespectful towards the other hosts. There are ways to disagree and debate issues and to still be respectful. I can't believe that he is allowed to treat Laura, Samantha and the other hosts that way night after night. He really needs to adjust his behavior or leave. I'm about ready to just stop watching the show!! Honestly!
-
Dear Insider when are you going to run storys about what someone in hollyweird is doing right for a change? Make no mistake those of us who watch, usually because the infomercialy get boring so we turn shows like yours on, would realy like to see something positive for a change so dont think we actualy want to see who cheated on who what um "star" stole whos husband who went to jail ect if I wanted sickening stuff and to lose more faith in humanity I'd watch the news. So please do us a favor put on something that maybe just maybe some one in hollywood did that was RIGHT for a change. There are some decent people I hope in hollywood if not I'd rather watch the infomercials!
-
We don't know what he's done yet. If he made women's jobs or promotions dependent on relations with him - he's a lawbreaker. If he dated consenting adults, he's a man.
-
By the way what ever happened to these people claiming "oh I want to keep my private life private" BS! Hey do us all a favor please KEEP your private life private PLEASE! Frankly I got enough of my own problems dont realy need to hear the sickening details of your sick sex lives between him an whats her face with her father oh yeah we'll remember your father alright we'll now remember him as a rapeist! Great going. Tell me what was the point of talking about that anyway? To sell a book? Dang how far these people are willing to go to sell thwemselves. I have no respect for any of them and I hope who ever runs this thing will tell them. You want to be an artist? Then do your art and mind your own beeswax on things that dont concern you and stop thinking of yourselves as god cause your not and no one cares what you have to say!
-
If you think that Dave should be kick off of the air, then I guess you thought that Bill Clinton should have been impeached...Right?? I mean, letterman is only a talk show host..and Clinton was the president of the usa. If you remember, Clinton lied about it many time's and cost the tax payer's a great deal of money with the continued investigation. before he finally came clean about the matter...which is what he should have done in the first place...kinda like Dave Letterman...don't you think??? Letterman, has admitted it up front...So who's the biggest ass now.
The real bumb is the guy who is well know in the entertainment business and revered...now he does not like the fact, that Letterman may have had some relationship with his girlfriend, so he decided's that he will Black-Mail Letterman for $2 million...So I say, put this bumb in jail for 2+year's and fine him $2 million...let him see what it is liked to be disgraced..and in fact he already is...and I think he will find it hard to get a job in the entertainment business again.
L -
And this so called "inturn" well she must have done her "job" very well since she got the "job" full time. Figures whats that I hear sounds like Satan claws "ho ho ho" nugh said.
-
He was immpeached duhhhhhhhhhhhhh! There like roaches cant get rid of them.
-
Even though he went public, and he hides behind his own company name, CBS should and probly does have a contractor policy, and his company is contracted, if an outside construction firm was hired to lay a floor or put up a wall and one of there employee's acts inappropriatly?? no diffrence here, just because he is famous... HANG HIM OUT TO DRY! He's done in my opinion - anyone else would be.. CBS needs to stop playing favoriates!
-
no because you guys need to focus on better things then this stupid stuff you argue about
-
Everyone is saying he did the right thing. Well, it was either he go public, fast, or it hits the papers the next morning. He was just protecting his ass (or all the other womens'). For someone who was so heavy duty to other married men that did the same thing, while he was probably doing it, really shows you what type of a person he is. And it isn't good that's for sure.
-
it's like just because he can make a joke about the situation it makes it okay! maybe it would make everything better for Jon Gosslin if he made light of his issues too...see more
-
a true, sincere apology is to the person/persons involved, face to face and them ONLY.
-
He may be guilty but it takes two...and these were accepting adults...he is also a victim...so I doubt he would do this again. It would be great to live in a better world but we see much worse in tv shows and movies and these are considered entertainment...where does it stop?
-
He may be guilty but it takes two...and these were accepting adults...he is also a victim...so I doubt he would do this again. It would be great to live in a better world but we see much worse in tv shows and movies and these are considered entertainment...where does it stop?
-
You'd think he was the first guy in Hollywood to have ever done this. These are adults who knew exactly what they were doing. I'm sure Dave is not getting off the hook very easily with his wife and it's irrelevant what the rest of think.
-
Point blank, Letterman may be in the public eye but his private life should be just that...PRIVATE. It takes a big person to apologize in the manner he did, not just try to dance his way around it as some have. Good luck to him and Regina and hopefully they can move past his transgretions.
-
Just another case of low morals, people see the different entertainers and know that they have plenty of money and appear nice and thinks this person is really nice, just goes to show that a cheater with money is no more than a poor person that one would expect to do something so low-down
-
Once a cheater always a cheater. Did he always cheat on his women?
-
I will not watch his ever again. He is not showing any respect for women.
-
he was not married at the time, although in a long relationship sometimes.....he needs to build trust with his wife now, but i think he could do it. Why not just let them work it out?
-
If Bill Clinton can get away with it (and he lied about it at first), then by all means a less important position should get away with it.
-
Are some of you mentally unbalanced or something.? No one said he slept with all his women co-workers. I am a woman and I know that he could have only slept with those that let him. Those that most likely wanted to further their career. Come on, give me a break, I do not believe some of you out there would not do whatever, to further your own career, or to be in the public eye. So why try to be holier than thou. You are not married to the man, he only has to answer to his wife not a bunch of hypocritical posters. I watch his show because it is entertainment. He is making light of past deeds. Because that may be his way do trying to deal with the fact that someone was blackmailing him. Any atonement he needs to do is to his family, not us. He went public to tell us the truth before the media could turn it into a circus like it is now. Letterman or anyone else for that matter is not a role model for our children: WE ARE. He is a human being. He was not married at the time, yes he was living with someone and this is between them. He felt the need to go public with it and I am sure he talked it over with Regina before he did this. I am willing to bet that over 50% of the married men in the country have had affairs. We just don't hear about it because they are not public figures. Leave these public servants, and the entertainers alone. it is not our business what they do in private as long as they do their jobs. That is my only concern. They have families to answer to, not us. We vote, for a person because of our political views and interests. We watch certain entertainment shows and certain stars because we like them and how they entertain us. I am not Letterman's wife, nor Clinton's wife, nor any other public figure that has done this. THEREFORE it does not affect me and it is DEFINITELY not my place to judge these people. It is between them and their family. If these people feel the need to let us know what has happened then I applaud their honesty. But I am not the one that needs to forgive them. If their family forgives them who the heck are we to go against that. So grow up people, If any of you can walk on water, then I guess you have a right to judge these people. Otherwise show as much common sense as you can by not calling people names and making rude remarks about them.

Are you some of you on something or what? Why would anyone even ask that question? Do you actually think it was easy to go on the air and admit something like that. How do you get off easy after something like that? How is he getting off easy? He has a wife and family to answer to. There is nothing easy about that. Plus he was blackmailed over it. Some of you are crazy to think he has it easy. And it surely is not easy to know that people are condemning him for being human. Some of you sit in judgment of a man you do not know. You have no idea if they had an open relationship or not. We really know nothing of his relationship with Regina. I am sure she knew about whatever was going on and she obviously stayed where she was. She is a grown woman, not some teenager and she made the choice to stay, and even give him a son. I am willing to bet they have talked all these things out. That is why after all this time she chose to have his child and get married. I am sure Regina is no fool. I personally have not seen him in any skits with this Stephanie in quite sometime. So my guess is it was over way before he got married. So I will continue to watch Letterman, and if Clinton could run again I would vote for him as long as he did what was necessary for the country. I am not interested in who has sex with who, it itsnone of my business. And this is MY OPINION.

I enjoy dave's show & think he is equal to the great J Carsen.I have seen Mr. Carsen years ago, he had some problems & was a professional about them as Mr Letterman is.He is also respectful of his family & has not put them in the public eye. This is crimanel what "that creep" did, may he rott in jail for trying to extort someone's hard earned money. I agree with the coments below, fully! Donny Osmand said as much last night on The Insider. Mrs Letterman will deside about the personal life they have. But I hope Dave continues on his show,I would come to see him for as many years has he is healthy enough to be their. sighed Shirly & Brent

David figures he could get away with and did for a long period of time. Committment he doesn't know what that word means. The only reason he came forward was to put his spin on it and because he got caught from a blackmailer who is also a scum bag. He brought it to light before the tabloids to cover his ass.

Despite the fact that CBS allows for consentual sex between supervisors and direct reports, of their own employees and suppliers, this is an incredible display of poor judgement.
-
I grew up watching Dave Letterman, and I'll grow old watching Dave Letterman. Hang in there Dave - we're all on your side.
-
was dave married at the time?? hang the creep
was he single??? then when else would he have time so who cares where as long as nobody had to lose their job over it -
Whatever he did before he got married (co-worker or otherwise) is HIS business ! He is true to Regina and his son ! That matters the most !
-
Whatever he did before marriage (co-workers or otherwise) is HIS business.
He is married NOW and he is true to Regina and his sweet little son. Our past is our foundation for who we are in the present -
Although he is just a comedian and not any sort of moral figure, he is still a powerful boss being sexual with young female staffers. That is an abuse of power, even if the women were consenting adults.Dave likes to make fun of others lack of character. If only Dave's integrity was greater than his self-consumed desires, there wouldn't be so many people paying for his narcissism
-
Although Dave is just an entertainer and not a moral figure of any kind, he still is a powerful boss using people on his paid staff. I only wish his integrity was greater than his selfish desires, then there wouldn't be so many people he claims to cared about hurt by his narcissism.

Dave was living with his now wife at the time of his infidelity.
-
IF IT WAS 1 WOMAN MAYBE BUT NUMEROUS ? HE'S A SLEEZE
-
Dave Letterman is and always was my favorite "talk show host".He is responsible for his actions before his marriage to Regina, the hurt she is going through. He has to fix it!!!
-
I feel that David Letterman did the right thing. He made is fans aware that he was being blackmailed, and wanted his fans to hear it from him. I'm sure that he and Regina spoke about this before Mr. Letterman went public. Yes it has hurt his marriage, but I feel that Mr. Letterman is very sincere about his appoligy to his wife and to his staff. As for as Mr. Letterman doing something wrong, I don't feel that he did anything wrong. It takes 2 people and they were concenting adults. The blackmailer is the one who should be prosecuted. One for reading someone's personal thoughts and then second for trying to use that information to blackmail a person (to keep what he stole) for money to remain quiet. None of the females have come forward and confirmed or denied what has been said about Mr. Letterman. What goes on in a persons private life should remain private. Whether the person is famous or not.
I do believe that Mr. Letterman needs to help his wife to get her resepct again and show how deeply he truly loves her. Yes Mr. Letterman is an entertainer but people need to leave this subject alone because its now up to the court to prosacute this indivual. And for Mr. Letterman to make right his life with his wife and son.
Mr. Letterman you did the right thing. I believe in you and may all your troubles be repaired soon. If you had not brought it to the DA and would have paid the blackmailer who is to say who else this bad person would have gone after. I apploid you for doing the right thing. And to you Mrs. Regina Letterman, you have a future with a son and a man who loves you, yes you are hurt but he didn't mean to hurt you so please work things out with him. -
this is none of our business. The blackmailer is responsible and should be held accountable and for his wife she should ignore it.The lady wasn't married to him [until recently
-
At least he had the balls to admit it instead of making things worse .He's a good guy,so what if he had sex w/ a staff member ?/R U NEW ?/ OMG !!LOL
-
he should be fired!
-
David Letterman should be kicked out on his butt..What kind of a Dad would only think of his own needs? This guy is un-stable and a philanderer ...he will never change, never! His wife has been made a fool of and he has NO respect for her!!!!!!
-
for sure
-
for sure
-
i feeel he is getting off

I am new to this Insider but since I'm here now I think David did the right thing by telling the public of his behavior. I could care less who he sleeps with as I watch his show because I enjoy the guests, the topics, and sometimes the sarcassum he blurts out. He is upfront and doesn't care what others think about him. I just hope he and his family can get past all of this. No it wasn't right what he did, but it was BEFORE the marriage. I'm anxious to see if he gets Sarah Palin on his show!

Letterman I hope someone cuts open your eyes and then sets you on fire you sick and twisted . you letterman you left wing commie scum.
