Taylor Swift: The New York Times Style Magazine

Taylor Swift is a girl I would talk hours about. She is beautiful and fashion-conscious, very creative and talented. I could say a lot more but she will do it better herself. Taylor is a covergirl for this Sunday’s T: The New York Times Style Magazine. She is featured on a few glam photos and looks really wonderful. She wears couture clothing, including a Chanel dress, a metallic Burberry Prorsum jacket, a Prada Swarovsli crystal top and other outfits form best fashion names. Besides, the songbird gives an extensive interview about her life and songs. Speaking to T’s editor Lynn Hirschberg the singer reveals lots of facts we haven’t known about her. Taylors tells about being an outisder at school and her double life as a result of this: I would sit on the edge of class and watch people interact with each other. I’d watch guys flirt with cool girls and I would watch best friends talk, and I would go home and write about it. If you listen to my albums, it’s like reading my diary.” Her classmates didn’t like the music she wrote and often reacted badly to her speaking about that: I didn’t really have that many friends at school. Kids would heckle me: ‘Go sing that country beep.’ It just dawned on me that I had to love being different or else I was going to end up being dark and angry and frustrated by school. Sometimes I felt like I was some sort of spy because I would go to school during the day, and then, after school, I had this life that was completely different. I definitely was more nervous walking into my first day of freshman year in high school than I was walking up to record labels and handing them my CD. In school, I learned to stop talking about music because they didn’t like it when I did. I led a double life. I kind of started to live in fear when I would sing the national anthem at the 76ers game. If there was a write-up about it the next day in our local paper, I knew it was gonna be a bad day at school for me.” But now Taylors isn’t afraid to express herself anymore. She writes everything she feels in her songs, including even names of people she used to like: I don’t hesitate — people who have no idea that I have a crush on them won’t find out through me telling them, but they will find out when they hear their name in a song. There was this guy who opened a couple of shows for me on tour and I talked to him a couple of times, but he never knew that I liked him. So I wrote this song called “Hey Stephen,” and when my album came out, I sent him a text message: ‘Hey, Track 5.’ It was so funny. Hilary Duffs clothing inspiration

Hilary Duff’s new fashion line is inspired by her own fashion staples. When working on it the girl thought of clothes she couldn’t do without and included those into the range. She said: I designed clothing that I feel are staples for my closet. Every girl needs a great leather jacket, and every girl needs a skinny pair of black jeans.” The actress-turned-designer has launched the collection under her own label Femme for DKNY Jeans this fall. She loves her designs a lot and she loves being an actress. But being so much popular is still new for her. Hilary finds it strange when she can’t visit shopping malls without being recognized and hounded by fans and photographers. She explained to Nylon magazine: I walked into a mall one day and was mobbed by people. And I just remember feeling really different than everyone else. I felt really loved. But it was weird at the same time.”

No one even asks why, because the answer is pretty obvious – these three shoe makers create glamour and sophistication along with high quality and wearability. The new collection of Christian Louboutin shoes for Spring/Summer 2010 looks amazing. It includes fabulous and elegant high-heeled pumps as well as diamond-embellished flats and nice-looking wedges. Some shoes come in leather but most pairs are made of chic suede and satin. The colors are very diverse: from luxury black to bright youthful red, yellow and violet. I love the shoes! Kate Moss crazy about bracelet

Kate Moss is not only fashion-concious, she is fashion-crazy, jewelry-crazy I would say! It was reported yesterday that the supermodel had been so taken with a bracelet one of fellow guests at a recent wedding was wearing that she bought it off the woman immediately. The accessory was the creation of jewellery designer Ann Dexter-Jones. It was the black onyx, black diamond, solid gold and silver bauble. Kate wasn’t confident enogh to ask about the bracelet herself, she asked her friend and boss – billionaire retailer and head of Topshop Sir Philip Green – to purchase the piece she wanted so eagerly. So, Ann was offered a large sum of money for the accessory plus Kate was ready to give away her own Chanel bracelet. Ann Dexter-Jones commented: She was so crazy to wear it so Sir Philip Green insisted Kate have it immediately and bought it for her right off my wrist. And Kate gave me her Chanel bracelet as a gift, so that my wrist wasn’t bare.” Ann’s line of now-famous jewelry will debut soon.

How to choose wedding dress for plus-size women

Every girl dreams about her big day and envisions herself wearing a perfect gown that outshines every other female’s outfit at the event. But if you are a plus-size there might be some problem on finding what flatters you. Nowadays there are lots of designers who are ready to help you and offer a gown you have always seen in your happy dreams. You might want to shed a few pounds before the wedding and it is a good decision but don’t let yourself starve as this can spoil your mood and make you too nervous. What is much better is to look through lots of catalogues and online stores that offer dresses to every taste, finances and shapes. A plus-size bride can and should look fabulous at the altar. Now let’s talk about what the dress can be like to make the most of your curves. First of all, forget about hugely puffy wedding dresses which were fashionable in the 70-80s. They look cute but not on big girls.You may think it is the best for you as it can cover all those bulges you’d like to hide. But while your full arms are hidden under balloon sleeves and heavy bottom covered by a voluminous skirt you, as a whole, will look even bigger than you are. Is that really what you want? Of course not. So, stay away from cute princess-like puffy dresses with lots of lace, layers and balloon sleeves; unfortunately they aren’t for you. Besides, steer cleer of mermaid and sheath dresses, those which accentuate attention on hips much. Plus-size girls look good in dresses that have a trapeze silhuette, without too much volume and details. Fabric should cling to the body but not pull in too tight. Avoid shining materials. They create the illusion of a bigger form. Plumpness can be different. If one woman suffers from a wide waist, another one can worry about her big bust and heavy bottom. All these problems can be solved if you know how to flatter you body. If you have full arms and shoulders and a big breast, dresses with tight-fitting long sleeves and square neck are to avoid. What will look good on you is a wide V-neck which will make your neck look longer and bust smaller. Choose sleeves that are long and bell-shaped starting from the elbow (a bit higher than that or a little lower) or short loose sleeves. If the dress comes without sleeves try a lacy bolero or a tippet. Bustier models are not the best decision. If you have a wide waist, try to shift the focus to the bust or hips. If the hips are beautiful and not too big opt for a mermaid dress. Another decision can be a flower attached to the bodice to accentuate the bust area. A dress with diagonal wrap over or waist drapery will be nice as well, as it hangs down to your hips and breaks the width of the midriff. In case the waist is too big corset can work, but wearing it means you will hardly feel comfortable at the wedding ceremony. Empire-waist dresses can be good options too. To draw attention from your problem areas try embroidery or insets in contrast colors from the color of your dress. Bottom part needs just a little correction as wedding dress nearly always comes with at least a bit puffy skirt. Mermaid dress is the worst what you can choose in case you have huge hips. An empire dress will smooth the disbalance between your hips and the waist. I hope these tips are enough for you to make your choice. But our tips are just tips that will help you create a leaner silhouette. You might want to try something different, not mentioned here or even said to stay away from. Everything depends on your choice. It is your day and you must feel confident in whatever you choose. All brides say they FEEL their dress as soon as they see it. Maybe you will understand it too. If you do, forget about all the tips and advice. Make your own choice!

Gorgeous Natalie Portman graces the cover of Marie Claire January 2010 issue. The actress looks happy and beautiful wearing a blue strapless dress with a big pink rose attached to the front. A set of pictures included into the issue feature the actress more natural in the greenery background. She looks a bit like a girl from the country when pictured in a boat donning a summer frock that leaves her back exposed and rubber boots protecting her feet from morning dew. She looks simple but sexy wearing a pair of blue jeans and a plain shirt. The photo with Natalie wearing a hat with a feather shows us her romantic side. In the interview for the magazine Natalie tells about her student life at Harvard University: OK, so I didn’t really go to high school parties and yeah, I didn’t touch pot till I was in my 20s. I didn’t get flat-out drunk until I went to college. But I think that’s a good thing in many ways.” And she reveals about her rumored romance with Sean Penn: He’s obviously someone I’m friends with I mean, not ‘hey, wassup?’ friends, but we were all on the [Cannes 2008] jury together—Alfonso [Cuarón] and Marjane [Satrapi]—and we had a really great time, and then…It was one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh, my God! I’m that person who’s caught in this shitty rumor brigade.’ You can’t win. You don’t say anything and everyone’s like, ‘It’s true.’ You say something, and you’re keeping the story alive. PFW: Roland Mouret Spring-Summer 2010

Roland Mouret’s Spring-Summer 2010 collection unveiled during Paris Fashion Week is more natural than the one for Fall-Winter 2009/2010. Lots of mini-dresses, trousers of structural geometric forms, blouses with extremely low cuts and square fur sleeves – all looked good and surprisingly wearable. Most outfits were obviously created for everyday wear, without too elaborated designs but still looking very pretty and unusual due to the designer’s eccentric view of a modern woman. However, there were a few perfect cocktail frocks and so much elegant little black dresses that would look fabulous at special events and parties. The color pallette wasn’t too wide: luxury white, warm yellow and beige, all shades of blue, sparkling black, neon orange. Accessory line was disticntive and unique. All those skillfully made necklaces covering nearly all the decollete zone, including ones with fur layer; fringed bracelets – two on right arms of models; ribbons tied around necks and waists of the girls – everything looked beautiful and innovative.

Amber Le Bon to be a photographer

Amber Le Bon is eager to become a fashion photographer after her modelling career ends. The English model knows that her perfect looks won’t be forever with her and people might lose interest in her personality either. So being able to do something else to earn good money and, what is more important, find it exciting, is essential. The daughter of supermodel Yasmin and Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon admits she likes taking pictures so much that it can be her future job. She said: I know modelling is not a lifelong career, and because I so love taking pictures of people I think my future is going to be as a photographer.” The 20-year-old is very successful as a model at the moment. She has walked runways for Moschino and British store River Island and plans to continue working in this sphere until she is called-for. Photography is just Amber’s hobby and the girl hasn’t developped any professional skills yet. But being a model helps her to understand some techniques that would be useful in her future work. She told Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper: I am learning a lot about the work on the other side of the camera. I am constantly getting practical experience, although I haven’t studied it technically.” Amber’s mother, British Iranian model Yasmin, keeps working in fashion industry. It has recently been revealed that she is planning to launch her own fashion line under the collaboration with British store Wallis. The collection will include clothing and jewellery.

Joanna Krupa Strips For PETA

PETA keep watching people’s attitudes to animals and try again and again to provoke the sense of compassion to those who cannot protect themselves. Another venture of the organisation intended to appeal humans to stop the violence towards animals was the photo shoot that features model Joanna Krupa. The ad campaign titled Be an Angel for Animals shows Krupa posing inside a cathedral wearing nothing but a pair of angel wings. Her beautiful body is covered only by a big crucifix. Another picture features the girl with a puppy in her hands. The campaign was organized to support PETA’s efforts to promote the adoption of homeless animals rather than buying pets from specialized stores, because each time a pet is bought from a store, another little one roaming the streets loses its chance to find a good home. Joanna says: You know, we’re trying to spread the word that breeding isn’t the way to go. Somebody needs to put their foot down and stop this breeding and these puppy mills. They’re in these little tiny cages, and all they’re doing is breeding their whole life. It makes me so angry that our government doesn’t do anything about it. So I am!” The campaign is very important in terms of protecting animals. But the pictures themselves are under a question and widely critisized. Catholic activists say the ads “exploit Christian symbols.” It’s totally inappropriate,” InsideCatholic.com Publisher Dean Hudson comments. “It’s another instance of disrespect toward Christianity and another example of the kind of abuse that would never occur with any other major religion, because the outcry would be so immediate and so loud that the people behind it would immediately retreat.” Catholic League President Bill Donohue considers this campaign ridiculous as “cats and dogs are a lot safer in pet stores than they are in the hands of PETA employees.” He added: Pet stores don’t rip off Christian iconography and engage in cheap irreligious scams.” Krupa couldn’t stand aside of this criticism: As a practicing Catholic, I am shocked that the Catholic League is speaking out against my PETA ads, which I am very proud of. I’m doing what the Catholic Church should be doing, working to stop senseless suffering of animals, the most defenseless of god’s creation.” The idea might be interesting, of course, but they shouldn’t have touched religion in the ads. In my opinion, it was a true profanity to cover a nude body with a cross, and even taking such raunchy pictures in a religious place is not a good thing. What do you think?

Is Lady GaGa human? Seems like that, though it’s hard to believe. The eccentric singer shows her human and feminine sides in Elle December/January 2009/2010 issue. She looks normal and very pretty without her usual flamboyant outfit, outrageous make-up and eye-popping headgear. She even looks like a supermodel with those blonde curls and sexy garments. The Bad Romance singer tells a lot about her future plans. She wants to have a normal family with a loving husband and kids. And this is not only for herself, she wants to make her father happy, too. She said: In eight to 10 years, I want to have babies for my Dad to hold, grandkids. And I want to have a husband who loves and supports me, just the way anyone else does. I would never leave my career for a man right now, and I would never follow a man around.’ Lady GaGa reveals about her old job as a waitress: I was really good at it. I always got big tips. I always wore heels to work! I told everybody stories, and for customers on dates, I kept it romantic. It’s kind of like performing.’ Being a singer is very stressful and this is how the star reacts to stress: I get all the symptoms of a pregnant woman. I get headaches, I get tired, I get blurred vision sometimes during a really intense session with [her creative team] the Haus.’ Although she values sexuality a lot she tries to attract attention by different things. She commented: My album covers are not sexual at all, which was an issue at my record label. I fought for months, and I cried at meetings. They didn’t think the photos were commercial enough…The last thing a young woman needs is another picture of a sexy pop star writhing in sand, covered in grease, touching herself.’ Speaking about the numerous scenes depicting her death she states: I feel that if I can show my demise artistically to the public, I can somehow cure my own legend. I can show you so you’re not looking for it. I’m dying for you on domestic television—here’s what it looks like, so no one has to wonder.’ We see Lady GaGa from a different angle now and she isn’t as strange anymore. And this doesn’t make her less interesting for us. On the contrary, I think we can understand her better now and admire her more as an artist, not a kooky personality!

Roland Mouret Launched Rainbow Dresses

Roland Mouret launched his Rainbow range for Net-A-Porter yesterday (02.12.09). The collection includes six vibrant mini-dresses and one mini-skirt. Each dress comes in two hues and looks nice for parties and evenings out. Roland confessed he ‘was thrilled’ to work with the online store. I was thrilled to work on this special project with NET-A-PORTER.COM,” the French designer told VOGUE.COM. “We have a great relationship and it was a pleasure creating these sexy dresses exclusively for their customers.” The dresses are made of silk-mix fabric with stretch. This photo shoot has striken me with an idea that nothing can be really right in our world. We say classic style implies wearing suits, blouses, flesh-colored stocking and pumps, but who says it is right? It is just accepted by everyone but not truly right as we all want to express ourselves in different ways. I can’t wear bandana to office just because people will think I look inappropriate. Dree Hemingway is featured in Vogue Nippon January 2010 issue wearing garments that seem to be incombined. But it’s the way the stylist see her. Why not? Thanks God, there are no strict rules for magazines on what exactly they should dress models in. The photo shoot is named The Day She Saw the City. The American beauty looks messy but somehow stylish. Her outfits are heavily layered and eclectic and are inspired by both bohemian chic and tribal motives.

Myleene Klass to Expand Baby Range

Myleene Klass has agreed to extend a contract with British store Mothercare. The TV presenter designs a range of clothing for babies, named Baby K, that is very popular and sells well. The old deal was to expire next year, so the store decided to prolong the succcessful collaboration and offered Myleene a £500,000 deal. A source said: The Baby K clothing line has been very popular and sold well. Myleene’s contract was due to expire next year and Mothercare have made an offer to extend that for a further two years.” The line will now include beautiful home and travel products for little ones: cots, prams, pushchairs, highchairs, bedding and bags. Baby K has long been one of Mothercare’s most popular ranges. It is intended for newborns up to three-year-olds. When the line was first launched in October Myleene said: I am so excited about my Baby K range. As a new mum I have used my first hand experience, with other mums in mind, to help design a stunning variety of products.” Good luck, Myleene! We like your designs!

Zac Posen to Create for Target

Zac Posen is to create an affordable range of clothing for Target. The collection will include limited edition styles that are to become available in stores between April 25 and May 30. Prices have not been released officially but judging by the cost of the previous collection for Target’s Go International series we can say pieces will range from $14.99 to $149.99. Not much for couture works! The US designer creates exquisite garments for such celebrities as Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachel Bilson. His exclusive works cost lots of money – up to $20,000 for really precious items. The first collection for Target was created by the designer in 2008. Zac isn’t the only one who has collaborated with the store. Other fashion talents who have worked with Target are: sibling designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Chai and Erin Featherston.

Nowadays when people tend to value comfort more than beauty for everyday wear, sporty style has become extremely popular. It is great for walks out, vacation and even work if no severe dress-code is required. People have always liked sport. Sporty style appeared when a person decided to develop his strength and physical abilities. Now this style is fashionable all year round and attracts more and more new fans. Sporty style is always simple and provides lots of comfort. It includes both warm and light clothing: warm ergonomic jackets, windbreakers, pants, breeches, shorts, overalls, vests, even skirts. Such clothing is characteristic for being loose, elastic, water-resistant, etc. Sporty garments keep warmth better than other dressing because they are made to be worn outdoors in any season and weather. Sporty clothes no longer look baggy; they are often elegant and sexy. Jean style is a variety of sporty style. Originally denim was used to make work clothes. But now classic, club, glamourous and sporty clothing is made of this fabric. Denim is good for many designs and climates. This material is ideal for those who prefer spending time in the fresh air, likes running and playing active games. One more variety for sporty style is a safari style, which became popular in the middle of the 20th century. This style was brought to Europe from Africa when white colonists were forced to live in a very hot climate. Safari style offers us clothes for outdoor sports in a hot season: loose pants and shorts, blouses and t-shirts. This style is notable for natural colors (for example, sand and green) and comfortable accessories (belts, patchpockets). Sporty style can be a mixture of several styles. Sometimes it includes modern glamour too. Such pieces have been created by designers for a few seasons already and are notable for simple cut, contrast colors and bright detailing. These can be straight or clinging trousers and tops, jackets with zippers, vibrant prints, strass and embroidery. Some tops can come with low cuts. When choosing a sporty garment pay attention to colors and fabrics. Sporty style includes lots of possible hues – bright and rich, mix of colors – which can look odd for any other style. Opt for natural fabrics: wool, suede, cotton. Modern materials can be synthetic too, for example, lycra, raincoat fabric – these add more functionality to the clothing. Accessories are also important for this style. Even a perfect sports suit will look scruffy with classic shoes. Choose good sporty footwear (sneakers, plimsolls, boots, sporty shoes). They are notable for thic soles, leather of high quality or fabric, comfortable boot. Various belts, headwear, wristlets and bags can complement your sporty outfit as well. To complete your look, pay attention to your hairdo and makeup. Sporty hairdo is usually a short cut, a neat ponytail or a plait. Minimal makeup is grea: a healthy complexion, highlighted eyes and lip gloss. Sporty style gives free play to your imagination. Choosing clothes and haido in this style you can look sexy, glamorous and even elegant. And you will feel confident in many situations being aware of the fact you look beautiful. Laetitia Casta is the model we see in Vogue Paris December/January 2009/2010 issue. The French beauty looks chic, eccentric and even romantic on plenty of interesting photos. The whole photoshoot can be divided into three absolutely different parts. One is all about glamour and voluptuousness. Laetitia looks like a vamp: red hair, pale skin and sensual lips. The second pictorial reminds me of Yves Saint Laurent’s chic. Black, sumptuous outfits look wonderful on the gorgeous figure. The girl is really hot! And the third pictorial is the one I like the most. It was done somewhere in the country and is all so simple and romantic. The model is featured breastfeeding sitting on a branch, sleeping with lots of fruit and vegetables in her dress, and playing with domestic animals. Nice!!!

Stella McCartneys collaboration with Morrissey

Stella McCartney has teamed up with Morrissey to work on a leather-free line of footwear. Both the designer and the singer are long-time vegetarians and want their upcoming range to represent their views. Though the project is in the early stages yet there are so many talks about it in the news. Stella hopes it will be launched next year. The fashion designer said: I’m working with Morrissey on a line of leather-free shoes which I’m really excited about. We are still in the early stages, but the shoes could be launched next year.” This isn’t the only venture Stella is to go for. It was recently revealed that she was in talks with Leona Lewis to make an animal friendly fashion range.

Pura Lopez Shoes and Bags Fall-Winter 2009/2010

We have recently admired Spring-Summer 2009 collections of Pura Lopez shoes. And now I’m glad to show you the Fall-Winter ones. What is good is that we have a chance to see a few bags, too. The shoes featured in the line are both for everyday wear and special occasions. Those for evenings out look fabulous. I especially like the dark violet pair with pretty bows at the back. High boots and ankle boots presented in the collection look nice and comfortable. Some are made of leather while others come in chic suede. The range of bags is very limited and I can’t say I like them much. Hope next time they will be better!

In the interview for magazine she says: About life: “I’m very f—ing grateful to be alive. I have so many friends who are sick or gone, and I’m here. Are you kidding? No complaints!” About acting: It’s incredible—I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies! Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave. She was 42 when she did All About Eve, and she was 54 when she did What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” Meryl Streep told Leslie Bennetts during interview: I can really see when I’m pregnant,” You see the little squirrel cheeks and stuff. Sometimes we get tired of innovative shapes and too bright colors. In these moments it is nice to return to old-fashioned but comfortable things. Aqua Deco Swimwear for Summer 2010 features pieces which look contemporary but have a really elegant classical feel. From the Aqua Doce press release: In times of global change, classical elements reappear with a new interpretation, proving that the eternal does exist. Repaginating the classical models, the Spring/Summer 2010 collection from Agua Doce comes anchored on the contemporary new interpretation of the Surf Chic universe.” Swimwear comes in citrus shades, with navy elements.The fabric used is the “lycra 71″that promises ‘a lot more noble and visibly more beautiful’ look, freshness and lightness. Some swimsuits are embellished with crystals which serve as pretty adornments to rather plain pieces. The swimming costumes can easily be accessorized with jewelry, hats, beach bags, etc. Aqua Doce has always been a swimwear brand, but recently the company realized the significance of beachwear items and accessories. So the work in this direction is being in progress. The model that graces the photos is Celine Brink, a Brazilian beauty who isn’t famous in the US yet but rather popular in her home country.
