Secret baby rumor persists, as Salma Hayek calls off wedding

Actress Salma Hayek has had enough of her billionaire boyfriend Francois-Henri Pinault, and the wedding's off. Francois-Henri is the father of her daughter Valentina, but there ain't gonna be a wedding, shotgun or otherwise. "We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been cancelled," Salma's rep said. "There will be no further comment." Gee, exciting. Helen Mirren is one of the sexiest women on the planet. This is just a fact, and there's nothing newsworthy there. What is newsworthy -- at least, for a blog called Frivolous People -- is Dame Helen in a bikini. Look at this! She even looks fab on just a casual day out at the beach. How does she do that? Let's just stop to point out here that this photo is not airbrushed. She didn't starve herself to look this shapely and, frankly, foxy as hell -- she did it all by hitting the gym to mold a strong body. She's in a bikini, yep, but it's simple, unflashy, and makes the most of her natural curves. She's not sexing up her swim suit with ridiculous stilettos, she's just comfortable in her skin. And she looks fantastic. Did we mention she's in her 60s? So how does she manage to make striplings in butt floss fade into total insignificance beside the leonine magnificence which is Dame Helen? It doesn't even matter what she wears, because her sex appeal has nothing to do with what's on her back. Silver-tongued comedian/lothario Russell Brand seems to be able to make knickers drop at a word, but this time around, he wasn't practicing his gift of gab on the lasses. Instead, he turned some of that mercurial Gemini wit on a London parking warden, and talked himself right out of a ticket. Russell, 33, and his new squeeze, actress Teresa Palmer, 22, were out for lunch in trendy Hampstead, but as they strolled back to Russell's car, Russell spotted a traffic warden standing by the illegally-parked black Mercedes Benz, just about to write out a traffic ticket. So he turned on the mega-watt smile, saying, "You don't wanna give me that!" Five minutes later, Russell and the grinning traffic cop walked off, arm in arm -- and after a few more jollies, Russell and his fair-haired lady vroomed away. True crime: Romeo and Juliet suicide pact was really a murder -- or a mercy killing

When eccentric, colorful children's book author/artist Harry Horse and his ailing wife Mandy were found dead in each other's arms, it was reported (and believed) that they'd died together after an overdose of pills in a romantic suicide pact. But the truth is a little more grim than that; in a horrific ending to a fairy tale romance, a British journalist reports that the musician, writer and artist stabbed his wheelchair-bound wife 30 times before slashing himself to death. Harry, 46, was a volatile personality but a devoted husband to wife Mandy, 39, who was terminally ill with multiple sclerosis. The bodies of the couple were found in their home on the Shetland island of Burra (Scotland), and the two were buried in January 2007. The deaths were reported to be a suicide pact between a loving, desperate man and his dying lover. But yesterday her mother admitted that for the last 16 months, she's been hiding the terrible truth. Mandy's mother Grace Williamson says, "We have only been able to cope because they are both now beyond pain. Quite simply, he went mad." Peter Gillman, the journalist and author whose investigation uncovered the truth, tells the Daily Mail, "My wife, Leni, and I began by investigating what we believed was a poignant love story. Oh, no, ya'll! Crystle Stewart, a model/athlete from Texas, was Miss USA in the 2008 Miss Universe pageant. And that's nice. But she'll probably be immortalized online forever as the cute contestant who tripped right over herself on live television. Crystle, 26, was doing her stuff on the catwalk, then suddenly she wasn't. She caught her heels in the train of her sparkling dress during the evening grown section of the contest, and fell down right there on stage. No sweat, though. The level-headed beauty just got up, clapped for herself, and kept right on going. Bellissima! This isn't the first time a Miss USA's gone head over elbow on a beauty pageant stage, either. Last year's contestant, Rachel Smith, took a tumble, too, just like it's some kind of goofy trend. See? And away she goes. Back to Crystle, meanwhile.... "I think I'm going to have to take some walking classes," she ruefully told reporters after the show. The latest Brangelina bubs have landed on planet earth. Actress Angelina Jolie and lover Brad Pitt just added two more to their batch of kids, rounding it up to....6? We lose track! There's biological child Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, and three adopted children, then the new twins...only six more to go and they'll have their own Little League team. Passion kills: Supermodel dead in apparent suicide

Supermodel Ruslana Korshunova, 20, was the modeling world's latest It Girl, but apparently her fairy-tale rise to fame brought her no happiness. Ruslana, known for her smoldering Slavic beauty, long hair and soulful blue-green eyes, was killed yesterday (June. 28, 2008) in a fall at 2:30 p.m., from the balcony of her ninth-floor condo; she fell nine stories and died on Water Street, in New York City. The Russian beauty was discovered by modeling scout Debbie Jones of Models 1, and launched a hugely successful career in 2003. "Everyone at Models 1 adores Ruslana," gushed Debbie in 2003, according to British Vogue. "I saw her by chance and she looked like something out of a fairytale! We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did! She's really incredible with feline features and timeless beauty." The 20-year-old supermodel was so young, she's shown in some casual photos smiling broadly -- wearing braces. Still, the enigmatic Russian was an instant fashion runway favorite and was a cover girl for the European editions of Elle and Vogue. She was also in high demand for glossy fash ads, appearing in ads for DKNY, Vera Wang and Marc Jacobs. A suicide note wasn't found at the scene, but police sources say there was no sign of a struggle in the apartment; so far, the reason for her death is a mystery. Building doorman Mahmoud Nakeeb, who got to work at 4 p.m., only to see Ruslana's sheet-covered body lying in the middle of Water Street, said only that Ruslana, who'd moved into the building two months ago, didn't seem to be unhappy. Report: Madonna is done with her Guy

Here comes the seven-year ditch. British newspapers are reporting that singer Madonna is set to divorce filmmaker Guy Ritchie. Guy, 39, and Madonna, 49, married in December 2000, and divorce rumors plagued the couple from the beginning, basically because Guy's this unassuming British dude and Madge is a total pain in the pants. He even made one of the most ghastly movies ever made, Swept Away, for his wife. She starred in it. The movie sucked. Coincidence? The story features Madonna stranded on a desert island; that concept is fab. But, see, then she comes back. It might've been an okay film if Madonna had played, for example, a palm tree. But she didn't. Alas for Guy. Then he stopped making movies, Madge went on an adoption spree and joined a cult, blah, blah, divorce. Anyway, apparently Madonna's been chatting with Fiona Shackelton. Fiona repped singer Paul McCartney in his recent divorce saga with Heather "Evil Eye" Mills. Fiona did such a kick-ass job in court, that Paul held onto nearly all of his £825 million fortune ($1.6 billion) -- he only had to cough up £24.3 million ($48.9 mill)to his ex. At the time of the settlement, Paul was 65 and Heather was 40. They have one child, Beatrice. Fiona also repped Prince Charles in his divorce from the late Diana, Princess of Wales. So, why Fiona? Well, Madge and Guy (shown above) reportedly didn't sign a pre-nup. Fab! No pre-nup means...drama! Madonna's rep, meanwhile, says bollocks to the whole thing, it's all just lies, lies! If you're going out to check out Sex and the City: The Movie, just know that fash icon/Aries chick Vivienne Westwood isn't going with you. The firebrand designer, 67, is name-checked in the film, and she created the dress worn by Sarah Jessica Parker's character, Carrie, in a wedding scene in the flick. But that doesn't mean she had to enjoy the film. In fact, says Vivienne, someone ought to slap the stylist, Patricia Field. Okay, she didn't say that. She just thought that maybe the fashions would be a little more...fashionable. Or at least like maybe something she might like. Not just bleh. Dead moose the latest hot thing on Craigslist

So, this 300-pound moose stumbled in Anchorage, Alaska dropped dead in someone's front yard, the guy called the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to haul the carcass away, and they told him too bad, he was on his own. Calvin Hay gave it half a thought, then did the only sensible thing, and buzzed over to Craigslist to offer a dead moose to the first taker. His post includes a few helpful serving suggestions: "You could use it for dog food, or stuff it and put it (in) your front yard, bear bait, whatever. If you live in the Lower 48, this might be your best opportunity to get a free Alaska moose. I don’t really care; I just want it out of my yard." He got at least 50 responses just minutes after posting the moose deal, including one potential moose gourmet who wasn't into hauling away 300 pounds of moose, saying: "I want it. Amy Winehouse hooks up with Pete Doherty, chaos ensues

Singer Amy Winehouse already has a ticket for her downward spiral, and that's leaving in like...any minute now. Anyway, the two of them were hanging around at Pete's house in Wiltshire and decided to make a little YouTube viddy. Not that kind of viddy. Posh and her cupcake diet

Footballer's wife Posh just had a birthday, and supermodel chum Heidi Klum gave her an unusual gift for the day -- a paid-up supply of cupcakes for a year. Posh starves herself to keep her size zero frame on a daily diet of edamame beans and seaweed shakes, with no carbohydrates after 3pm. She allows herself two or three glasses of white wine at night, and can snack on strawberries or frozen grapes as a special treat. That's an idiotic and unhealthy pattern of eating for a grown woman. So, Heidi's gift for Posh's 34th birthday was maybe a subtle hint to start eating something; especially if Posh and Becks plan to add yet another rugrat to their current pack of three boys. Heidi arranged to have the cupcakes delivered to the Posh's Los Angeles home at 3 p.m. (PST) every Friday, at a cost of £1,000 ($2,000) for the year. Ah, how cozy. We can see it now: Mama Posh hands round choco and vanilla cupcakes to her boys and hubby, then pours out a glass of white wine and sniffs the wrapper.
