It doesn't surprise me that Cate doesn't like plastic surgery OR that she's not part of the Hollywood scene. She's a real artist...on the same caliber as Meryl Streep. The only way she would alter her appearance would be for the part....but that's what makeup artists are for.

Now that she's not going to be the Vice President...it'll be interesting to see if this guy follows through with marrying her daughter. I think three factors contributed to the GOP's defeat: (a) People want a change from Bush (b) McCain was perceived as too old (c) Sarah, although cute and funny, just doesn't come off as Commander in Cheif material.
