AD-diction: Tom Ford White Patchouli

I haven’t written an “AD-diction” post in a while, and it’s basically because no ad has really moved me until I saw Tom Ford’s ad for his new White Patchouli fragrance popping up all over the internet. Hell, I don’t even know what the perfume smells like ( although Patchouli makes me think downtown Berkeley) but the portraits of Erykah Badu looking radiant, and naturally flawless in black and white cradling the fragrance in her perfectly manicured hand has me ready to beat down the doors of Sephora to pick it up. I know it’s not a new idea to use musicians in clothing/beauty ad’s but Erykah Badu is out there even for the music industry so I say bravo to Tom Ford for making a beautiful and unconventional choice! photo cred: Tom Ford Beauty

Sneak Peek: She-Bible Fall 08 Collection

Aren’t you guys loving all the sneak peeks I’m getting I know I sure am. Well this particular sneak peek comes to me from San Francisco’s own She-Bible. If you haven't heard of She-Bible it's a company that is the design collaboration of two Bay Area best friends Deirdre O'Boyle and Stacy Rodgers. If you have heard of She-Bible then I’m sure you have one of their simple but lovely dresses, tees, jackets, or at the very least you have been lusting over the now famous Faithful Pantsuit. The above selections and more Fall 08 items can be found starting August/September and will range from $54.00-220.00. Accessory Find of the Week: Feather Necklaces by Miss KK

Rumor is big bold “statement” necklaces are on their way in as far as trends in fashion are concerned. Although the Peacock feather necklace ($68 ) doesn’t give you that heavy look, it does come across as bold, and is definitely a statement piece. Each necklace is handmade by the designer “miss kk” and each features a 30” chain with star charms and of course feathers. Miss KK also designed two more feather necklaces one in Brown/Black, and the other in Turquoise and White (both $76 each). Dare to Wear: Eye Heart Glasses

So I’m in the market for a new pair of eyeglasses, when I come across a pair that I can't seem to take my eyes off. I told you about the cute little heart shaped sunglasses they carry at Topshop and Urban outfitters before, but these aren’t sunglasses but something a little more risky in terms of fashion. I know they are a little much for daily wear (the looks I would get at work would be classic) but I can’t help but think these would be great for a weekend change up. I found the Eye Heart Glasses at Nasty Gal a brand spanking new ( they opened last week) online Vintage Boutique that I can’t wait to see more from i.e. they have a new clothes coming soon. But back to the glasses, I really wish I could be more daring.....if you are you better move fast, this is a vintage item (unworn) and therefore limited quantities are available! Dare to Wear: Members Only Rubber Leggings

I was feeling daring today, therefore it’s all about “Dare to Wear” fashions! I knew Members Only was updating their 80’s image with a line of Leather Jackets (which I love by the way). But who knew they were going to really step out of the eighties and into the new millennium with even more with the addition of clothes, and the recent introduction of their rubber leggings. I’m sure Kova &T ( love this line) are shaking in their boots, and Mary Kate Olsen has bought several pair, because the Members Only version of the “leather look” leggings are only $88 bucks ( yes that's cheap compared) at Urban Outfitters or Revolve Clothing. I am currently falling for some of the jewelry designers at Etsy which is home to designers of crafts and handmade items. My current favorite is Zulasurfing Jewelry and well to be honest nothing about their work says "craft project". I was loving the designs so much that it took me a while to decide if I even wanted to share this with you guys, this was one I was dying to keep for myself. Alas my readers are important to me so I couldn't’t keep this “gem” a secret. My favorites are the Zulasurfing Druzy Rings, even though there are multiple rings to choose from and many look similar each one is unique and hand crafted so you have your own piece of one of a kind jewelry for 58.00 dollars. B.A. Style "Steal" of the Day: CZ-3 Patent Peeptoe

Let me start off by saying, I don’t normally support people coping artist/designers nor am I saying hit up Canal Street, or your local knock off hot spot to buy a fake Gucci bag, that’s just tacky, what I am saying is there is a real issue with companies overpricing merchandise because of the name that is associated with it. Now that that is done, I’d personally like to say a big thank you to Forever 21 for making a “copy” ( knock off whatever you want to call it) of one of my favorite shoes by shoes of 2008 by Chloé. Even on sale I can’t afford the $387 Price tag of the designer version. Say what you will about Forever 21 lacking originality, they gave me and others like me who love designers fashions, but can’t always afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a shoe that although beautiful is so quirky, and unique that it’s probably not going to get that much wear, nor be on trend next year. I don’t do this much, but i advise you to get this one while you can! Forever 21 also has this shoe available in white ( they look kind of cheap!).

Beauty Find of the Week: butter London

butter London, boy do I love this nail polish err lacquers ( they call them Lacquers)! The company is one a few that are “ 3 free” i.e. free of the toxic, and cancer causing chemicals Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP. butter London was founded by CEO Sasha Muir and Creative Director Nonie Crème. These ladies manged not only to develop a brand of nail lacquers and treatments ( cuticle cremes, foot cremes etc) but also combine that with actual salon services ( mani's 20 dollars, and Pedi's 40 dollars). This concept of a salon carrying it’s own brand of Nail Lacquer is almost unheard of combine that with the fact that each and every nail lacquer is on the cutting end of fashion and this is a one two punch that can’t be beat. Each color is 12 dollars each, no frowning it’s only a few dollars more than the OPI you usually buy and remember its 3 Free! What adds a little more flair to the butter London brand is that each color is named after someone/something British most of the sayings I had no idea what they meant, but they are explained on the website. My two favorite colors have to be Fash Pack a wonderful year around taupe that is universally flattering, and West End Wonderland because by now we all know I love some flair, and this lacquer is bottled flair! Oh yeah, and it's easy to apply due to the little rectangle bottle and top allowing you to perform a perfect home polish! You can also partake in one of butter Londons’ “packs” ( perfectly grouped colors) a wise buy for this time of the year would be the fashionistas Favourites Spring/Summer 2008. Sneak Peek: Vegan Queen Eco Tote

We all know of the mania that occurred after the introduction of the Anya Hindmarch " I'm Not A Plastic Bag" tote. I suspect mania is about to hit again, because I just got a sneak peek of the Eco Tote and I'm ready to "go green" today! This fabulous bag comes from one of my favorite eco friendly lines Vegan Queen which I have mention previously. The Vegan Queen brand is not one to skimp on luxury or style yet is undeniably one of the most eco-conscious brands around. The Eco Tote bag is an expandable, roomy ,sturdy tote made of 100% organic canvas with double handles and decorative green stitching which makes it a great choice for groceries or a casual weekend bag ( if it was me I would carry it everywhere).
