Happy Being The Other Woman

A week ago, I posted a guest feature from Nichelle Walker titled “The Other Woman”. Although, most are a bit judgemental of a woman’s decision to be a jump off, it was only fair that I posted a comment from a reader who is perfectly happy with being “the other woman”. I usually don’t post anything in the comments section but I have to speak for the women who are happy being the other woman, the jump off, the sideline, if you will. One of my best friends asked me why I continue to sleep with this guy knowing he has a girlfriend and this is what I told her…. I’m a 23 year old chick who has her sh*t together. Might sound vain but really its true. Going to school about to graduate in June of 09, got my own spot, my own car and a damn good job. Unfortunately, I was once sidetracked by love and it almost ruined my life. I almost lost everything I had and was working for. The man I loved didn’t give a f*ck about me. I was just as dumb as Kim Porter is when it comes to Diddy. Swearing up and down my boyfriend was my real life Mr.. Big. Lol at myself!! “I’m his main chick so f*ck the other b*tches!” I’m the one he bought a ring for and took on a trip to Hawaii but I was also the one who got dogged out the most outta all the rest of the h*es. All you so-called wifey’s, girlfriends, and main’s might not wanna admit this but you’re getting done wrong and you’re not even happy. Which is why I’m now the other woman, his mistress, the jump-off, if you will. Call it what you want but I’m happy with an occasional f*ck, dinner, a couple shoes and no emotions involved. Bran….well, lets just call him Josh, is a win-win situation. I don’t have to worry about why he didn’t call me back last night. With Josh I don’t argue or fight. He’s not my man, he’s just my f*ck buddy so that aint my job to worry about where he been all night. I get the benefits of having a boyfriend (with the great sex, great convo’s and dinner) and the benefits of not having a boyfriend (no drama, no embarrassment, no shared accounts). Which is why I don’t believe that men are the only ones who can benefit from this type of “relationship”. This might sound harsh but hell no I don’t feel guilty for having sex with Josh! I don’t want to take him from her, I just borrow him from time to time. Believe it or not I feel sorry for Josh’s girlfriend and I sometimes wonder if she knows he’s cheating; Though I doubt if she found out I would care. In society, people make us believe that women can’t do what men do. Yes we can(Vote Obama 08′) and we do it better! And your absolutely right, there are no male “hoes”, “mistresses”, or “jump-off’s” but I be damned if I’m labeled as one just because I wanna get my swerve on! I don’t feel the least bit guilty for nothing I do. And even though Kelis is one weird ass chick she said, “I’m the author of the only dictionary that defines me.” And that’s real talk. I’ll take my “chicken pass” right now because my first reaction was “Girl you betta Preach!!!!!”. And no I don’t condone being a “jump, mistress, other woman, etc” however, the commenter made some very valid points on why most women choose to play “The Other Woman” role. To be honest, the first guy I’ve ever dated (and loved) was TAKEN! I didn’t give a damn about those occasional weekends he spent with his girlfriend because when he was with me, he made me feel as though I was his main chick. When I was fresh out of college, my mentality was “why would i want to be “the woman” when she’s being lied to and cheated on while “the other woman” is being told the truth and has a good idea where her “borrowed man” is when he’s not with her. (although I doubt she cares). The Other woman reaps the benefits and rewards and then sends the man home to his woman who has to deal with all the upkeep of a relationship (cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids & mad drama). Don’t get it twisted, this was my thought process years ago. I haven’t borrowed a man in ages and I know better now. I be damned if I come home to my hooptie sitting on cement blocks just because I’ve screwed someone’s man…And when there is a family involved (marriage, kids, etc) I definitely wouldn’t touch it. Ironically, most women that are being cheated on in their relationship has played “The Other Woman” at some point in their life. Bitchie Flix: Pre-Grammy Party Photos, Plus MIA To Deliver @ The Grammys?

Before news hit that M.I.A was performing at the Grammy’s despite the fact that her baby is due that same day, I didn’t have much reason to watch this year’s show. The Grammy’s hasn’t been good since Michael Jackson went moonwalking across the stage back in 1984. M.I.A and her 9 month’s pregnant belly is supposed to take the stage with TI, Jay-z, Kanye and Lil Wayne for a much hyped performance of “Swagga Like Us”. The thought of her water breaking during her performance alone is worthy of me live blogging during the Grammy’s (of course from my living room..teehee). Pass the popcorn! Yesterday, Jennifer Hudson was spotted at the rehearsals for Clive Davis’s Pre Grammy party that will take place on Saturday. Other artists set to perform include Leona Lewis and Whitney Houston! Also, Jenny is supposed to perform an emotional ballad “You Pulled Me Through” at the Grammy Awards… Two of my favorite chicks, Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles were spotted at the Black Eye Peas Peapod Benefit Concert Last night. Solange must be a stallion… I ran a Bitchie on a Budget on Solange last month and put a price tag on everything but the Chanel Booties she was wearing that day as I couldn’t find a price on them. How about a male friend of mine hit me up that day and in the midst of our conversation he says “Oh, By the way, Solange’s shoes cost $1300….Don’t ask me how I know…” *blank stare* Fantasia was there. I hope those long azz SWV, freddy Krueger nails are not coming back in the 2009. Yikes! Rihanna been looking kind’ve dry lately. Don’t she know it’s some R&B chicks (Ciara, Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson) that’s just waiting for her to slip so they can take her place? Etta James Got Jokes

Ole’ Biddy James says her Beyonce comments were jokes but I know damn well she’d kill to get her hands on Bey’s lacefront. Singer Etta James says she was just joking when she told a Seattle concert crowd she “can’t stand” Beyoncé and poked fun of President Obama. James tells New York’s Daily News, “I didn’t really mean anything. Even as a little child, I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude. …That’s probably what went into it.” She added that the crowd liked it, so she kept on rolling. “Nobody was getting mad at me in Seattle. They were all laughing, and it was funny.” She said the jokes were “not from a vicious place.” But James did admit she was miffed about not being invited to perform her signature song for Obama’s first dance with his wife on inauguration night. James was “feeling left out of something that was basically mine, that I had done every time you look around,” she said. And while she said she liked Beyoncé’s performance, when asked if she thought she could have done better, James answered, “I think so. That’s a shame to say that. Without further ado….. Singers Jazmine Sullivan and Fantasia Barrino were spotted at the Grammy Style Studio at Smashbox Studios early yesterday evening. Jazmine looked absolutely stunning and Fantasia has definitely lost a few pounds. Get it Fanny!! Jazmine is having a great year with five grammy nominations while Fantasia shares a nod with Jennifer Hudson for their collab on “I’m His Only Woman” (click here to listen). Keyshia Cole hosted the Vanity Fair & Krug Dinner last night in West Hollywood and was spotted with close friends Paris and Nicky Hilton. Other celebrity guests included Fergie, Kim Kardashian and Akon. Keysh is stepping her Hollywood status game up with the Hilton Sisters but you know everyone that hangs out with Paris leaks a sex tape…. I’m just sayin’…(lol!). Rihanna was spotted shopping at the Grove and Opening Ceremony in LA yesterday. I’m not sure about this stunt that her publicity team is pulling but it’s obvious that they want us to believe that the two have split….or maybe they weren’t really “together” to begin with. Tiny & Monica Reveal Reality Show Plans

TI’s fiancee Tiny recently spoke with Jamie Foster Brown by phone and revealed her plans to open a nail salon this month as well as her plans to star in a reality show. According to the buzz around Atlanta, Tiny will star in the show along with her friends Toya (Lil Wayne’s ex-wife), KANDI (Xscape), and Joy (Lyfe Jennings baby mama). This would be must see TV for me, however I would have to wonder what TI felt about broadcasting his personal life to the masses. In the interview Tiny tells Jamie that TI wasn’t okay with it at first because of the reality show jinx (splitting) most couples go through when opening up their homes and lives to the world but he eventually approved of the idea. Speaking of Reality Shows, I reached out to Monica yesterday because I originally thought that she was going to be a part of this show. She revealed that she is actually taping her own reality show “Still Standing” as we speak and it’s a continuation of what we saw on the one hour special “The Single”. Mo is currently in Vegas recording (and partying it up) with Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox. She wanted everyone to know that her new album is coming soon and she has been taking her time choosing the right material for the album because she doesn’t want her fans to feel cheated. Super producer Polow Da Don, DJ Clue and Keri Hilson hit up the birthday celebration for DJ Clue and Valeisha Butterfield at Club Mansion in New York late last night. Among guests spotted in the building were NBA Baller Lamar Odom, DJ Cassidy, Trey Songz, Fabolous, J. Alexander and Steve Stoute. Valeisha Butterfield is pictured here (left) with Salt. She is one of my sheroes. Currently, she’s the managing director over at the Hip Hop Summit Action Network but I first heard about her through her engagement to The Game back in 2006. The engagement was called off shortly afterward and she has since went on to do bigger and better things. Boo to the Game. Beyonce was spotted looking like royalty as she entered a restaurant in midtown New York earlier this week. I’d be interested to see what she has to say about Kelly Rowland parting with her father as management. I’m hearing Kelly had to leave the country to get out of her contract with Matthew, so does that mean her records will not be released in the US? More celeb photos below Lala was spotted at the Velvet Margarita Cantina Restaurant in Hollywood last night by a loyal reader. She seemed to be a good sport about having her photos taken… Keyshia Cole hit up Pure Nightclub last Thursday and was spotted with Fabolous and one of the Jagged Edge Twins (I can’t tell them apart..) Chris Brown was at the 21 club in London earlier this week, taking a much needed break from Rihanna. I’ve seen these photos making their rounds but I’m surprised no one mentioned that the girl with the poofy ponytail is not a random club groupie. That’s Trey Songz ex-girlfriend Helen who is Chris Brown’s background dancer. Rihanna has nothing to worry about… Wipe me down! Vivica Denies Psychic Involvement, Plus is Vibe Folding?

An outraged Vivica Fox reached out to Blackvoices yesterday and denied any involvement with the Psychic Friends Network. According to Jawn Murray, she is demanding that they cease and desist the use of her images in their advertisements as well as her appearances in their promo videos. “Vivica A. Fox is no friend of The Psychic Friends Network.” Fox is alleging that the footage circulating online “is using her unauthorized likeness, footage, voice and photographs as an endorsement of their service.”Additionally, the actress is demanding that The Psychic Friends Network “cease and desist immediately” with use of the video and images. Details about why the video was shot or how the images were obtained by The Psychic Friends Network were not explained. What de bloodclot?? I mean seriously Vivi, how the hell did she end up in the video in the first place? Vivica needs more people. It’s a recession and a check is a check. Speaking of a check, I hear Vibe Magazine may be folding… Via Byron Crawford I was checking Gawker just now, and I see that an anonymous tipster has emailed to inform them that Vibe might not have enough money to print next month’s issue. Which I took to mean that there’s no longer a business case for Vibe, and that the TIs who own it (who almost certainly aren’t out of money) might be about to cut their losses. The only ads they’ve sold for March are for the Army, Carson Soft Sheen (i.e. that sh*t you smell when two or more black women are in a room together), and Jamster. Supposedly, there was a big meeting Friday afternoon, and there’s gonna be another big meeting this afternoon. It might be going on as we speak I tell you one thing, they better not be going out of business. That is my magazine right there…even though they’ve consistently caused controversy with every single cover they’ve released over the last few months. What other magazine would be brave enough to peg Plies “the future of rap” or airbrush the drawls right off of an innocent r&b singer? By the way, here’s there revamped March Style Issue cover with Frankie and Key Cole… “I got money now. The LisaRaye Drama Continues

Actress and First Lady of Turks and Caicos Lisa Raye McCoy-Misick took the stand last week in a government corruption trial against her husband. Reading the 200 page court document and a few articles on the trial made my head spin but I’ve come to the conclusion that that her husband was a shady character. According to court documents, Premier Misick was flying LisaRaye in charter jets back and forth from LA to the Island at a total of atleast $100 grand a trip (Turks & Caicos money). He also insisted that she would be the face of the Island in T&C billboards and billed the Island a total of almost $300 grand for her appearances in those ads with an additional $150 grand for each “promotional appearance” that she did around the States. When questioned about this, LisaRaye’s response was: I actually did not want to get paid at all. I didn’t feel it was right for the First Lady to kind of charge the country. I was concerned about how that would look. She also revealed that Premier Misick gifted her on Valentine’s Day (or her birthday) with a White Phantom Rolls Royce that he leased through her company (How’d that happen????), and she is currently stuck with the $6900 monthly bill. LisaRaye also testified that the Premier gave her a Black American Express card so that she would be able to buy new clothes to fit the bill as the Island’s first lady. Sometimes shopping trips for clothes totaled over $200 grand and there was no limit to the couple’s spending at any given time. I don’t wish this on anyone but I do think that LisaRaye allowed herself to get caught up in this larger than life lifestyle without knowing that the fairytale would soon end. They did some serious spending on the Island’s dime and I’d hate to see her get thrown behind bars for this. I can’t believe I got caught watching this mess. And Sonja Norwood produced this joint. How Puff Burned the Bad Boys of Hip Hop (Excerpts)

A few weeks ago, news that former Bad Boy artist Mark Curry was planning to expose Diddy hit the internet with a preview of the first chapter of his new tell all titled “Dancing With The Devil”. I didn’t entertain the news at first as I was sure Diddy would shut this guy’s website down and halt all publishing efforts before I had the chance to read Page 1. However, a friend of mine got her hands on a copy and I literally begged her to send me the scoop on what to expect from the book. Since he makes some serious allegations in the book, I decided not to reveal her name just yet. Review Via email: Comments in bold are her reactions to what she read Title: Dancing With The Devil: How Puff Burned the Bad Boys of Hip Hop by Mark Curry (Chapter 1) “Puff charged the artists for his appearance on their records and videos, usually without [them] realizing it until they receive their royalty statements. That’s when they discovered that their large sums of money had gone to fees which were doubled, tripled and even quadrupled because of Puff’s ’special appearances”. For example, he would charge artists for having his Bentley in their videos-which he insisted upon- then took tax credit for business use of a car.” (PAGE 79) Despite amazing record sales Mark Curry claims that Biggie resorted to selling dope and homemade duplicates of his cd from the trunk of his car just to earn spending money (Page 94) Jimmy Henchmen told Tupac “why you blaming Puffy and Biggie. Them n*ggas aint got nuthin to do with this shooting. Nobody came to rob you. They came to discipline you and that’s what happened” Side note: that’s a serious accusation, how do you know that was said? (page 139) He writes that Puffy lured G Dep with a $350,000 signing advance and a 5 album deal. Puffy did not offer him any counseling on how to handle money. After he spent about 1/6th of the money he discovered taxes, production contracts and stipulations held up the rest of his money. In less than 6 months G Dep was broke, in debt to Puffy and lost himself to drugs Sidenote : what label teaches you how to handle your money? Was that really puffy’s responsibility? They all rape you I honestly don’t know if there is anything in this book we didn’t already know. Puffy is an a–hole who doesn’t pay anybody. I think the funniest part is that Big Meech checked Puffy. They were out on a Yacht and Puffy was bragging about all his money and Big Meech said “Yeah, but none of your people have money. I have money and all my people have money too”. Another sidenote observation: The book has a 24 page bibliography and most of the info could easily have been found on the internet. Also, he is not present for a lot of the stories he tells–its usually a second hand version. He does mention a story that was always a “hush-hush” story in the industry. The story of Puffy beating up Shakir Stewart at LA Reid’s wedding when he found out that Shakir was dating Kim Porter–this was after Puffy left her for Jennifer Lopez Ouh lord drama!
