I wonder if you consider cleaning and housekcleaning to be low tech, as far as work is concerned, since your character does that a lot. Pushing a broom, and housecleaning, is often given to unskilled people and also to those who are oppressed by the govt. as part of getting them out of mainstream society..
Hope playing your character gives you an appreciation of those
who are forced to that profession..
